Why do they keep saying UT needs to root for OU tommorw ?
I havent gotten that impression at all on the BBS.

It's pretty much a given if OU goes on the road and beats a top 15 team they will pass up UT.

 

But what was the Score Different between UT and TECH versus OU and TECH?

I don't agree with you there SF.. I actually think both TAMU and UT graduates get respect from outside of Texas, despite the fact that UT is generally more recognized (t-shirt fans etc...)..after all, UT is usually ranked around 50 in the national academic rankings, and we're about 8-10 ranks behind them.. TT, on the other hand, is a third tier school (AKA $h!t school )

we had a Chevron speaker a couple of days ago and he said that Chevron hires more Aggie engineers every year than any other university graduates (and that's nationally, by the way)... and IIRC, we were also very highly regarded by BP ..

but back to football, damn we suck, and I wish we had an O-line close to UT's, oh, and while you're at it, a D-line and a QB too ..

Superior? Maybe. Clearly? Hardly. There's good logic both ways. The UT argument is a little more solid because it involves direct competition on a neutral field. The OU argument is based on a 6 degrees of separation logic but it's amplified by the degree of the beat down on Tech.

Really, the argument between the two sides is completely circular.

UT: We beat y'all and gave you your only loss.
OU: But we layed the smackdown on Tech who handed you your only loss.
UT: Yeah, but we beat you heads up.

Repeat ad infinum.

Personally, I give more credence to the heads up matchup than the round about "we beat team X and team X beat team Y, therefore we're better than team Y" argument. That logic might be necessary if you're trying to decide between two teams that haven't played each other but that's not the case here. In this instance, we have two teams, each with one loss, that have actually played each other. And on a neutral field to boot. To me, the actual outcome of the game between the two teams in question carries more weight.

FWIW, for whatever reason OU was ranked aroun #7 and this argument was between Tech and UT, I'd go with Tech for the same reasons.

And I'm not a UT Fan. I went to school down the road at Texas State and despised the wannabe UT fans that wore Horn gear on campus. I'm just giving my personal opinion as a neutral college football fan.

Texas D held you aggys to 9pts while BlowU let your garbage offense score 28pts.

If, if OU rapes OSU in Stillwater, coming off an annihilation of Tech, I can't fault any voters who put the Sooners ahead of UT regardless of the head to head.

If OU struggles, I think you have to give UT the nod due to head to head.

Tech is better/Superior to Texas
and
OU is better/Superior to Tech
