Why? If Texas went, then Tech could make the same argument. If Tech went, OU could make the same argument.

Then Texas Tech should boycott the Texas game next year, since there's a chance winning ON THE FIELD won't mean anything. The fact that Texas can lose to Texas Tech and still make the Big 12 championship, sickens me. What's the difference if we switch the schools for Texas Tech? They have the same argument. Oklahoma did what we couldn't do and that's beat Texas Tech. There's got to be a tie breaker and we have to accept it as it is.
It's funny as the T-shirt fan question goes. I went to UT for 3 1/2 years but finished my degree at A&M and now getting Masters at TX State. My wife gives me a hard time because she graduated from UT and she calls me an aggie. UT brainwashed me first though so I'm die-hard Longhorn. It does suck that I didn't get my degree there though. I think that as much money as I payed to UT, I deserve my Longhorn status though.
(1) Because UT beat OU at a neutral site where everything is equal. (2) Also, The fact that Texas did not have a home game against either OU or Tech. Whereas OU and Tech each had a home game in this 3 team battle. (3) Also, Texas Conference schedule was the toughest of the 3 teams. (I can feel the rebuttal, OU had the tougher NON conference schedule --- my answer to that is that Mizzou equals both Cincinnati and TCU, since OU played both teams at home)
Texas loss to Tech (in Lubbock) was a minor miracle, where as Tech got destroyed at OU, a team that lost to Texas at a neutral site, where everything, including fan representation is EQUAL! Tech lost so bad tonight that Mizzou will likely be favored in a potential Big 12 championship match up.
Been talking to some OU, UT, and Tech fans tonight, and all of them only see this from their own perspective. It's crazy. This really is a 3 way clusterf--k and the real villain in all this is the BCS. We NEED a f'n playoff.
None of this would change the fact that "there's a chance winning ON THE FIELD won't mean anything" for Tech if Texas goes, or OU if Tech goes. The three teams tied in a round robin of the conference. There's no tiebreakers about road vs home vs neutral field games or unbalanced conference schedules. And it would be silly to decide things that way - it's not Tech or OU's fault that Texas didn't have as many home games or had to play Mizzou. At the end of the day, you have three teams that all play in the same division of the conference that went 1-1 against each other and 6-0 against everyone else. There's no good way to break that tie, and whatever you come up with is going to screw over two of the teams. OU could argue that they were the only team to blow out one of the big three or has the biggest net scoring differential, for example. Why aren't those as legitimate as Texas not having a home game?
yeah we might suck, suck very bad even, but we don't go for the end zone with 30 seconds left against a team we're up 20 against, oh, and let's hypothetically say we did that on accident, and the ref didn't call it a TD, we wouldn't challenge it, all while playing on the other team's field.. that's the travesty, being cheap/classless, not sucking hardcore (which us aggies are doing this year).. add this one to the Leach profile: an onside kick down 40-something points with 40 seconds left.. the classlessness displayed by this team is unprecedented.. no matter how much we try to mess with UT, Mack Brown would never pull cheap moves like that and that's why Brown and the entire Texas team have my utmost respect (except for the racist facebook ones and the ones that get arrested every 2 weeks ).. Leach and his bellringers epitomize the world "classless" and "cheap".. I have absolutely no respect for the coach/the entire program.. their basketball program is a whole different story, I have mad love/respect for the old Knight..
After watching that game, I was even more dissappointed in the defensive play calling by Muschamp in the Tech game, he rarely blitzed.....I think the way to beat Tech is to hammer the QB.... Bump and run and hammer the QB..... Maybe next year Muschamp will turn the run and shoot into the chuck and duck. DD

How does a BCS playoff solve the potential 3-way tie in the Big 12 South? If you have an 8-game playoff, it's safe assume the limit of 2 teams from one conference would still apply. One of the three would be left out of the playoff. If you want a 16 team playoff, forget it. Will never happen.
