Eh. It's buzz. But sports should be decided on gameday, not the next day's polls and what #s are spit out by computers. That's not the kind of excitement that college football needs.
Exactly. Too many people confuse drama and controversy with excitement. I'd take the excitement of playing the games out on the field rather than arguing over computers and polls.
so did ou win the computer component by .04 then? if a nuclear bomb falls on the house of the nebraska kicker who made the 57 yarder (when he would probably miss a 20 yarder if i had money on it), i won't feel too sad. or on the missouri tigers' defense is fine as well. didn't our opponents have a better record than ou's opponents?
We do appreciate the effort, texxx. The bad part is that Nebraska FG put Nebraska in the top 30 giving OU another win over a top 30 opponent.
Yes. Most of the computer pundits were expecting a dead heat or a Texas .01-.02 lead in the computers before Missouri lost. That would've been enough. We seriously might have lost things on a successful 57 yard field goal in Lincoln, and a missed ~50 yarder in Kansas City. How screwed up is that? Poor Blake Gideon. That guy plays with reckless abandon as is -- I have a feeling someone on our bowl opponent is going to take a nasty hit from the safety. I just hope we can keep Kindle and Colt around next year -- this is setting up like 2004-2005 all over again.
I can see Leach's motivation (recruiting wars with UT), but not sure why Mangino would vote that way, especially since UT destroyed his team, but OU only won by 14 Leach also saw his team beat UT, but get pasted by OU
I don't really even mind it from Leach -- his team beat UT, and was stomped by OU. But Mangino? He played both teams, too. They lost by 2 touchdowns on the road in Norman against OU, and meanwhile lost by 4 touchdowns in Lawrence against Texas! He has no excuse for that ranking, let alone separating the teams by 4 spots. Edit: Holy crap, I'm making the same statement as bigtexxx. Just in case anyone didn't know, both Mangino and Leach are former Stoops assistants.
If Texas were in the conference title game, you'd have Tech fan on here complaining that they beat Texas, etc etc. Somebody gets screwed regardless. It sucks.
WOW.... does it look like it to anyone else that Florida might not be #2 if they beat Alabama? OU will prob move ahead to number 1 in the Harris and USA today and Florida will leapfrog Texas to number 2. That means Florida jumps 2 spots in both human polls. The computers have them at 6# right now and Alabama is #3. How Much will Florida jump up? I doubt they will go all the way to 3 or anything above it. We could still be looking at OU vs Texas in the BCS game and a world of pissed off college football fans.
I believe our's did up until the last week or so. Both Mizzou and CU losing this really hurt us. This ****ing sucks but oh well. If there's one lesson to learn, Mack needs to start scheduling teams from the Big East, Mountain West, and WAC like OU did this year. Not only are you very likely to win those games but the strength of those conferences are so weak that at the end of the year, your resume includes more wins over ranked teams (like Cinn, TCU). I know it won't but hopefully this will open up some eyes with the ridiculousness that is the BCS. If the BCS is suppose to be the best non-bias way to compute rankings, why in the hell do we have human voters in this? Whatever it is, the current system allows a team to sit at home and watch 2 teams play for a conference championship when they beat both of those teams during the season, go figure. I guess the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, NCAA Basketball, NCAA Baseball, and NCAA Soccer all have it wrong. End of rant.
Even with the Sooners winning the South, Tech fans are still pissed! We went 11-1 in the best division in football and knocked off the #1 team. The whole system sucks! I will not be watching any of the bowl games, and I would LOVE for LEACH and Brown to boycott thier games beacuse of the ****ty BCS series. It DOES suck. I am very sad at the moment
