Pretty much up to the Harris Poll. I've seen that the expected computer rankings boil down to 0.96-0.95 in favor of OU which means UT needs a decently sized change in the Harris Poll.
The polls (and computers) are what determine the tiebreaker. And specifically, the # of votes each team gets as opposed to their rankings.
Someone on Hornfans did some analysis and came up with this for the Harris poll: If OU computer lead = 0.01, need 31pt lead (52pt swing vs. last week) If OU computer lead = 0.02, need 59pt lead (80pt swing vs. last week) If OU computer lead = 0.03, need 88pt lead (109pt swing vs. last week)
One of the AP voters had UT at #7: http://pollspeak.com/pollstalker/pollstalker.php?r=T&s=5&p=9&w=14&t1=94&t2=0&v=0 Doesn't matter for the BCS but it's still a big WTF.
But what it tells you is that that kind of stuff does go on and the USA Today and Harris polls aren't immune to it if one of their voters decides to do the same thing. If he's going to put Texas that low, then I'm surprised he didn't drop UT another couple of spots behind Utah and Tech.
I think it'd just be easier on us all to have Tech play in the Big 12 Championship... Bah! Cotton Bowl, here we come. Damn you, OSU!
I'd say so considering he's the only one who has UT outside the top 5. I know Tech beat Texas and if all else was equal (SOS, performance against other teams) Tech would go. In any case, that same voter has Tech at #11 which is also a big WTF. That voter (John Hunt from The Oregonian) votes: 1. Alabama 2. Florida 3. OU 4. USC 5. Penn State 6. Ohio State 7. UT 8. Utah 9. Ok. State 10. Mizzou 11. Tech
Tech is #11 in that voter's ballot - behind both Okie State (who they beat by 30 and has a worse record) and Missouri: http://pollspeak.com/pollstalker/pollstalker.php?s=5&p=9&t1=94&t2=0&v=33&w=14&r=V He was rated the worst overall ballot at whatever that site is.
Every damn week I have to come into this thread and complain about the same stuff hoping maybe someone important will hear me. How is USC ahead of Utah?! And Tech. And TCU even. Geez.
I know this is probably the dumbest thing anyone ever said on this board, but shouldn't they make an exception this year for the Big 12 title game and just let the two teams from the South play for the Big 12 Championship...Texas and Oklahoma. Since, the teams are playing for the BCS championship, why not let the two best teams out of both divisons play, instead of the best from the South and North. I think it would be perfect scenario to have Texas play Oklahoma in the Big 12 title game, since Missouri has nothing to big gain by winning or losing...they're certainly not elgible for any BCS bowl games.
If Mizzouri wins they are certainly BCS bowl eligible. In fact, a win puts them in the BCS automatically.
