East coast bias? I don't remember any of that when LSU split the title with USC...

actually the "tragedy" (and that's way too strong a word for it -- but you know what i mean) is that college football is GREAT. but the way they finish off the season to determine a champ is a joke. so it minimizes this otherwise great sport.

What's really a joke is the amount of childish whining and crying coming out of the longhorns. If you had taken care of business against Tech, you would have a legit claim to be in the BCS championship game. You didn't win.

I think the Sooner fan with the sign at the game last night nailed it: "but....but...we're Texas!"

that's rich... had Texas won that tech game, there would be no "legit claim" bullsh!t being argued because they would be in as the unanimous #1 in the country. instead, Texas gets to watch a team they beat 10 on a neutral field get their ass handed to them - again - in a big bowl game

that's the real tragedy in all this

assuming texas finishes 3rd in the final bcs, what bowl are they likely to play in? and which opponent are they likely to face?

Texas was an easy interception away from winning all their games.

None of the other major contenders even come close to saying that or having that season.

Texas is the best college football team in the country...on both sides of the ball...a shame that they don't get a chance to play for the NC, when they clearly deserve it.

Hmm like 1% chance UT sneaks in at #2. After all, the team UT did beat just destroyed Mizzouri... and maybe the computers will still hate on Florida enough to keep UT #2.

    THats what Im hoping for

They'll almost definitively be in the Fiesta Bowl vs. Ohio State. There's an outside chance of vs. Utah, or the Sugar Bowl vs. Alabama (there are some rumors that there might be some deals between the bowls going on to create better matchups, but not likely).

Any team in that situation would be doing the same. Cut the crap.

They have a legit claim even without beating Tech. If you'll remember, Texas was the #2 team in the nation just 2 weeks ago. And they didn't lose since then. Oklahoma jumps them because they keep their starters in long after the game is decided and runs up the score? Yeah, I'd say Texas has a legit argument.

Oh how I hate the BCS -- the top 9 teams deserve a shot to play for the championship -- as in a playoff. Yes, I know it should only be the top eight, but I can't make up my mind on the last team to drop out.

UF was a missed XP (or one yard run, depending on how you want to look at it) away from winning all their games. ;)

Plus Texas is a fumble in the red zone vs Oklahoma State from having 2 losses and out of the bcs. Stop making excuses about the Tech game everyone knows who the better team was that day. Texas is not the best team in the country and for the record isn't the best team in their own state. The better team that day made the plays it needed to win, Texas didn't.
