I am pretty sure he gets a medical redshirt so he probably will be back

Ya...Shipley already applied and received it so he's is expected to be back. It would be interesting to see if that changes if Colt leaves.

Here is the thing: NFL teams poke and prod draftees very closely. I don't think McCoy would go in the first day (if he gets drafted at all). Can he complete an "out" pass with an NFL caliber CB making a break for the ball? Can he thread a bullet 20 yards over the middle? I so no to both. His arm strength isn't there to be very good in the NFL. Put Matt Stafford's arm on Colt's body and you might have something.

I honestly did not know this. Awesome news to hear, and hopefully this influences Colt's decision to come back and win it all next year. :)

He would pretty much be like Drew Brees. I'm also not completely sold on Colt being a good NFL prospect. Scouts love guys like Stafford and Bradford, tall guys with a strong arm.

Colt's biggest selling point will be his mobility and playmaking abilities, but I'm not sure that's enough to overcome an average arm and being slightly undersized. With that said, Colt maybe the most "intriguing" QB in this class or possibly next class. Have we seen the best of Colt or is this it? I don't think anyone really knows.

I think you can say you've seen the best of him only because we reach the limits of mathematical impossibility when he goes through stretches of completing 90%+ of his passes such as earlier this year.

He would be over 80% if his receivers didn't drop so many passes.

    Unreal.

Aside from the Tech game, UT receivers were very surehanded -- Quan Cosby is a freaking vacuum. Shipley and Cosby had over half of our receptions.

I'm just hoping Irby comes back healthy -- can you imagine Colt with a reliable TE?

The young guys (particularly Collins it seemed like) had their drops here and there, but you don't expect guys to be perfect.

Then again, I don't know why I'm responding to a DaDakota hyperbole post. :)

I actually think the offense has worked best after Irby got hurt. It forced us into the 4-wide no-huddle spread, and that seems to be Colt's favorite set. When he was in "machine mode" against OU, Missouri, and OSU, we seemed to be almost exclusively in that setup.

our 4-wide set is potent, but it makes it that much more difficult to pick up blitzes.

i prefer our TE 3-Wide look with irby, because of the variety and balance a true TE provides. chip blocking and releasing was a huge weapon with David Thomas in the 2005 season, and it was looking promising with irby. our running game would be much more effective too...

I am not saying they drop a lot of balls Nike, I am saying if they hadn't dropped as many he would be over 80% which is unreal.

Probably could have worded it better.

The receivers have not been bailing him out, he has just been hitting them in stride all year....like nothing I have ever seen in college football.

If the Texans drafted Colt his back peddling would come in handy.

A couple of his picks were balls that bounced right off the receivers' hands too and into the arms of DB's.

I just don't see him as a prospect, but I"m not an NFL scout...I think he has tremendous heart and toughness, but arm strength is always a question?

Tom Brady wasn't highly regarded, neither was Joe Montana. These NFL scouts don't know anything.

I am not taking a jab at Colt, although I don't think he will make it as a pro... But, what is the percentage of shotgun QBs that make it in the NFL? It seems to be very low. I can't think of many. If you count guys like Troy Smith or Alex Smith (if that qualifies as "making it") then its still damn low.

When I see guys like Sage Rosenfels, Shaun Hill, and Tyler Thigpen starting in the NFL, I'm pretty sure Colt has a place there.

I can't say how Colt will be as a pro. He doesn't have huge arm strength but I never seen a college quarterback go through his progressions as fast as Colt does either.

Colt could be another Montana/Brady type player or he could end up being another Gary Kubiak.
