I sent mine to Linder. He said he was finished Sunday night, so I assume he did them himself. I really don't care as long as I get my rosters.
I can't find the thread now, but BL posted on MaddenMania that he deliberatley put in a few misspelled names in his roster and every one of them was misspelled in Linder's file exactly the same way. I like BL's because he updates them numerous times. The first one is just names. After that, he does depth charts, creates players, etc..
But that would mean restarting a dynasty everytime he updated. For me that would defeat the purpose of a roster file. Personally I didn't even play a game until I got a fully named and updated roster set (not because I just had to wait, but I bought the game then had a million things come up).
Holy ****... are you kidding me... the game has text-to-speech conversion? Just loaded my roster files... and the announcers are saying their names... This is incredible, how long has this feauture been around? "Young drops back to pass! He got him in the end zone!" Dropped $30 on a MaxDrive to load the rosters myself (needed another memory card anyway, now I can just back up on my PC), and it's well worth the price now, I figured they would just replace all the names on the jersey and such... but to actually hear them say the names... wow...
You could always put in the names and the announcers would say the names of the players, as far as I know. I definitely remember naming all the teams, myself, on the 2003 version.
Yeah, I know for the past several years, you could put in names, and the announcers would say them. However, I don't know if there was a large bank of "generic" or "superstar" names that would be recognized, or if all the names are recognized by some sort of new technology. As an aside....although I really like the touch of the hometown info for the players, has anyone else noticed that they are all wrong? Is that because they can't be that specific with the actual players due to licensing/ amateur issues, or what? I mean, it's cool, but you can't adjust it, and I know that many, if not all, of the hometown cities are incorrect for the players. I'd just like a little info about it if anyone knows....
Yeah, it's been awhile since I've played these football games, especially in depth, and that certianly does make more sense than recording thousands of names individually, still it's a nice surprise! Another reason to love this game!
I was expecting mine today, as they were mailed out monday and take 3 days to get to houston. nothing yet
Last night I was up until 2AM finishing up my recruiting for the upcoming 2008 season with SMU. My poor budget allocation, which left only 5% for discipline ended up killing me, as I ended losing 10 scholarships. However, after 3 titles, f'n everybody wants to play for you. Here's a sampling of last night's haul: QB: #1, #3 in nation RB: #1 in nation WR: #2 in nation T: #1 in nation DE: #1 in nation DT: #1, #2 in nation OLB: #3, #4 in nation CB: #1, #3 in nation I ended getting almost all of my initial targets to sign. In all my class had 10 5-stars, and 4 4-stars. Amazing.
I'm still waiting on mine from Linder too. This sucks. I want to play the game so badly, but since I can't save my dynasties, it feels pointless. I haven't touched the game since freakin' Monday! I'm jonesin' like a crack addict here.
I'd love to play but i currently don't have a PS2 that works. It bit the dust over the weekend. If i can scrounge up another 45 bucks i'll be good to go.
When you guys play dynasties do you all play fair and accept any loses? I mean like, you don't lose a game and then think, "grr, I could have won that ****," and then restart your PS2 and try again?
Yeah, I stopped doing that like 20 years ago. I could leave the PS2 on, but for some reason, I'm afraid of the processor getting overheated, resulting in an early grave for my PS2. I've read several instances of this happening to people.
Go donate some plasma. Seriously though, you can probably pick up a used one from Gamestop for like $120.
I almost enjoy losing. Well, not really, but I don't turn it off anymore and I don't like blowouts, unless they're really deserved. Texas State beating Vandy 70-12 in the first year of a dynasty isn't deserved.
No. You set it for 1 minute quarters and JV mode. You can run circles around opposing defenses with any sort of competent RB. But, to speed up a season and get to recruiting, I commonly simulate the easy games. If, by some fluke my team loses, it's easy to revert back to the last point at which I saved. That's a possibility, given the fact that there's no standby mode, and the CPUs always running at max power. Interesting sidenote is that a couple of years ago, I was in a meeting with the OEM team that makes the PS2 fan. I asked them that very question, and they said that it's not a problem, and that the fan had X number of years useful life.
