I can't wait for this game to come out as well. What is the "pipeline" recruiting? Also, I think transfers could play a big part in this as well. It could be a pro or a con to a team that is deep at all positions.
I think pipeline recruiting is along the lines of how certain colleges tend to recruit players over and over from a particular area or even a particular high school. Sometimes it just works out that players from a certain area or school repeatedly move on to a certain university, whether they are expected to or because a college coach actively recruits the same area or school. For instance, under John Mackovic, UT used to have a "pipeline" of sorts out in California, which is how Ricky Williams and several other Cali players came to Texas. Since then, it's been a lot more of in-state dominant recruiting. And yeah, I'm interested in seeing how the transfer thing works. And I hope the recruiting is a little more challenging this year. It seemed too easy to get the best players on previous versions, IMO.
oh man, not sure i wanna see the UT players match up stick when playing oklahoma. i take it greg davis' head simply explodes as our offense takes the field for the first time. 2k4 was the first game in this series that i got and i absolutely loved it. in fact, i may end up skipping out on this year's because i still have unfinished business on 2k4 (and i probably don't play enough to justify purchasing a new game when 2k4 is just fine). not sure if i like having to worry about violations and such but making recruiting harder would probably be a good idea. i mean if you win the national title you can end up with 20+ five star recruits while the next closest has 7 or something. maybe my roommate and i will split the cost.
EA and Microsoft finally came to an agreement, so all the EA games (Madden, NBA Live, NCAA, etc.) will have XBox Live support.
Will the PS2 version have online play? From the way you guys are talking about it, sounds like this could be a good time to pick up my first football game in awhile as well as a PS2 network adapter.
Dude the trade in is your friend. I have been trading in stuff forever. I am very much likeyou. I play a game for a while then get bored with it. WHen that happens it goes back to the store. Sure I don't get full credit but if you trade them in within a couple of months of the release date you get a pretty good return. I have gotten many a game at no cost from trade ins. I even got my PS1 for nothing from trade-ins.
For those wanting the rosters, go to Geekrosters -- they'll have rosters by a guy named Blacklover. He does the best rosters out there by far.
Oh and what's the story with all these rosters? Are the rosters that the game ships with not adequate or what?
the NCAA does not have a player license, so NCAA games cannot ship with actual players names. They have to be put in seperately. I have always used Linder's rosters (http://www.ps2rosters.com/) and liked them much more than Blacklover's.
Geekrosters is pretty good. Thats where i downloaded my mvp baseball rosters from. And if anybody wants to send me there memory card, I can copy the rosters on there for you.
I wonder if, since the EA games are Live this year, there will be some roster updates through Live? I'm guessing not, since the licensing agreement still comes into play, but it would be nice. I've never bothered with the roster/memory card thing before. I'm all about this game, though. I'll be looking forward to playing it online eventually.
Can someone post how to get the rosters. I've never done tht either, but would like to. I did see someone selling the ebay mod card update for bidding and people were bidding on it. But can I do it myself for free? Is it easy?
You can edit yourself, but it takes a LOT of time. If you go to MaddenMania, they have an NCAA discussion board. There's a thread at the top titled "My NCAA Rosters This Year". Check that thread out. If you want XBox rosters, I think there's a thread for that as well. Warning though, the mods just got their copies, so the place is SLOW right now. Just checked on EBGames.com, and my copy shipped this afternoon. Monday morning I should have it.
I really think ps2rosters is the way to go. I'll check out the one you sent me, Nuggets4 (thanks, BTW) but last year I went thru ps2rosters and had zero problems. It's free and the rosters are first rate. He doesn't just do the player names, he does the little things too like appearances and equipment. For instance, all the FSU linebackers have that brace behind their necks (I guess it's some kind of tradition) and he added it to all their equipment. He has two ways to do it. You can use sharkport or just mail him a memory card and a self addressed stamped envelope and he'll copy his and send it back to you on the same day. It's free but I usually donate a 5 spot for the trouble. He has very specific mailing instructions so that you get it back in good time. Last year, I sent mine on a Tuesday and got it back the following Monday. Sweet. It sure beats doing it yourself and it makes playing the game much more realistic.
Man, I've wasted a good part of my youthful years playing NCAA 2003 and 2004. It's the perfect supplement to carry you up to Saturday afternoon during football season. NCAA 2005 will be one of the best video games ever made. For Texas, look for Benson and DJ to be ranked really high. I wonder what kind of speed they gave Vince.
Hmmm, wideouts can't hear hot routes... that would be pretty significant since I tend to go with four wides and hot-route at least three of them.
i've been wavering on whether or not i was gonna pick this game up. Last year was the first time i didn't buy the NCAA game. With all the new improvements i've read about like making the recruiting more difficult and having the homefield advantage, i think i'm gonna pick it up I checked out the ps2rosters.com website and noticed he already has the NCAA 2005 option up on the Printable Form, so i'll try and send my memory card out Monday or Tuesday. I did the rosters myself 2 years ago and i'll never do it again.
i just ordered an action replay so i can get the correct rosters for NCAA football 2005 and MVP baseball 2004. Im stoked
