Think the AP Polls are lot more legit than USA todays. The Texas dropping from 1 to 7 by losing on the road while beating 3 top 15 teams, while only losing by a few at Tech is bull. I am happy to see Tech ranked this high but still got a long road ahead of us. If we can beat OSU we have a decent chance to win the big 12 south.
Any poll that has UT and Ok State below USC is bogus. Also, are we really 3 spots below OU despite beating them and having the same number of losses? EDIT: Nothing personal Red Raiders fans but as a UT fan I have to root for you to lose both of the next two weeks. We can be friends again after that. EDIT 2: Who is the idiot in the AP who voted Florida #1 over 3 undefeateds?
I don't blame you, I would too. If we can finish with 1 loss I would be satisfied. I can't say I would want you guys to beat Kansas either because I want to win the big 12. It would be nice knowing we can beat OU but I am not sure. I am hoping we beat OSU next week and OSU beats OU later on in the year.
Unfortunately, the AP poll is irrelevant to the BCS. They use the Coaches and Harris polls. It's still way too early to worry about the details of the polls at this point though. The Tech-OSU-OU round robin tournament will be far more important.
Someone who knows this stuff better than me: How can get OSU get to the Big 12 Championship game? If they win out, do they still need Texas to lose again?
If OSU wins out, their best chance is to win out and UT loses again, but that's unlikely. The other chance is to win out and for Tech to beat OU, creating a 3-way tie between OSU, UT, and TT. The tiebreaker is then whoever's highest in the BCS standings, which is unlikely to be OSU, but you never know. If they dominate Tech and OU, maybe it works.
I would think so. If UT and OSU win out, both UT and OSU have one loss, with the tiebreak (head to head) going to UT. This would mean OU would have 2 losses (UT and OSU) so they would be out of it. The wildcard would be if Tech beats OU. If they do, then they would have 1 loss as well and BCS standings would come into play as the tiebreak. If that is the case, I have no idea who ends up where, as all three teams would have beaten OU. My gut is that a loss that late (to OSU) would have Tech fall far (it better, if UT fell this far after the gauntlet they almost ran) and the BCS tiebreak would go to UT. It's going to be a crazy month.
BCS rankings should be pretty similar to the AP poll. UT's strenght of schedule should still have them ranked over OU and USC but we'll see. I know this has been discussed before but what happens if Tech loses to either OU or Ok St.? If UT, TT, OU or Ok St. each have one loss, who gets the go ahead? Strength of schedule?
If there's more than two teams tied at one loss, the higher BCS ranking determines who goes to the Big 12 Championship game (if that's what you're asking). If you're asking who would likely be ahead in that scenario, I have no clue.
True. As long as they aren't ahead of any 1 loss Big 12 or SEC teams I am fine. But that's not the case across the polls.
The coaches poll is simply a joke. There is no way UT is behind USC and OU. The AP got it right...unfortunately that doesn't mean s***.
I think in 3 way ties without head to head breakers I think OU or Texas will have the advantage. Texas has the strongest Northern division schedule, with Mizz (7-2), Kan (6-3), and CU (4-5). Tech and OU share Kan (6-3), NU, (5-4), and KSU (4-5). OSU has Miss (7-2), CO (4-5) & ISU (2-7). Texas and OU have the best non-conference schedules. Texas has Rice (6-3), Ark (4-5), FAU (3-5) & Utep (3-5). OU's has TCU (9-1), Cincy (6-2), Wash (0-8) and TChat (1-8, Div II). Believe it or not those schedules are quality compared to Tech and OSU's--with 3 division II opponents among them + 1 win opponents. In the computers I think Texas will do the best with 1 loss, followed by OU, than OSU, than Tech. But say Tech, UT and OU all end up wth 1 loss. It will come down to UT nd OU. Two factors will determine the outcome. Impression factor. How close does UT stay with voters as OU beats Tech and OSU. Second, how the differential opponents play. In particular, Mizzou (both Kansas schools left to play), TCU (with Utah and AF of solid opponents) and Cincy (lots of touch games starting with at WV this week) are important. But even the lesser teams play may be important (Rice, Ark, can Wash get a W). Overall I think it will be really close with OU and Texas if they win out and Tech beats OSU. But if OSU beats Tech, I assume a 3 way tie with Texas, OU and OSU gets Texas the tiebreaker on head to head. So, Go Cowboys!
Texas, OU, and OSU can't end up in a tiebreaker, because OU-OSU have to play. The best bet for Texas is for OSU to win out. Then if Tech beats oOUT, here's either a Texas-OSU-Tech tiebreaker which we likely win, or Tech loses to OU and we win a head-to-head tiebreaker vs OSU. We should all be Cowboys fans the rest of the way.
i hate the bcs, we really need a playoff but UT should be ranked 3 or 4 with OU behind them and tech at 3 or 4 as well, the only reason i would put tech at 4 is bc in crazy bcs world the more ranked teams the higher the position its all r****ded
