The Big 12 have a great season, and then some overzealous fans take it a step further and then boast how inferior every other conference is. Some people here have been especially disparaging about the SEC. I understand the Big 12 finally takes the spotlight, but I think some fans have let it go to their heads.
I think most Big 12 fans outside of OU fans think OU will get demolished by Florida. Not sure Florida is the one getting disrespected as much as the conference as a whole in this particular season (generally a down year for the SEC)
I agree with this. I'm a Florida fan and I'll be the first to say that the SEC is down this year, relatively speaking. However, the Big 12 wasn't some juggernaut conference this year like the media tried to make them out to be.
I got home in time to see the last half of the 4th quarter of Ole Miss vs. Tech. Anybody else think the announcers were just terrible? They were completely worthless IMO. It would have been better if they had just kept quiet.
I think people are wishing for that, but I don't know if they really believe it. Personally, I'll be cheering for Florida, for obvious reasons. I despise Oklahoma more than any team/program in sports. However, having watched both teams significantly all season, I'd be stunned if Florida keeps the game within two touchdowns. I really hope I'm wrong. As for the Cotton Bowl, while Ole Miss is a rapidly improving team, I think the result is very different if Tech has a healthy Michael Crabtree, instead of one basically hopping on one leg. And before anyone says "but Crabtree doesn't play defense," take a look at the time of possession, as well as the four punts and the two interceptions. That wasn't anywhere close to the same Tech offense that Big 12 teams had to deal with, and losing the best player in the country tends to have that effect. (And no, I'm nowhere close to a Tech fan.)
Hey, Cat. I find this interesting. As a Texas fan, I, too, saw LOTS of OU this year. I also saw a good share of Florida as well. Conversely, I'd be surprised if OU keeps it within 10 points of Florida. Why, you ask? Well, OU's defense is extremely suspect. This is especially true up the middle, and in the secondary. Shipley and Okie State proved that you can throw all day over the middle on OU. More importantly, though, is special teams. OU is HORRIBLE at covering kicks this year. And Florida has placed a premium on its kick return game, be it Harvin or another one of their speed burners. I think OU gives up a few big special teams plays, Florida gets a few stops on D (Murray out does hurt the big play ability of OU), and you're looking at a 45-28 victory for Florida. Call that my official predicition, and I hope I'm right!
Ha! Yeah, it seems the lower teams have done the best. #3 B12 Team - Solid loss #4 B12 Team - Close loss #5 B12 Team - Close win #6 B12 Team - Slightly less close win #7 B12 Team - Solid win
So Fatty, Would you say tech played better or worse than the Baylor game? Way to make bad teams look like juggernauts while making an ass out of yourself again. Don't really get tired of it.
This ECU-Kentucky game is getting ridiculous with the reviews and the fumbles and knees touching and blocked kicks. Entertaining though.
This wil be awesome if the Utes can blow out Alabama, be undefeated with wins over top 10 Alabama and TCU, top 20 Oregon State, and top 25 BYU - and be the only undefeated team in the country and not be national champions.
Utah putting a whoopin' on alabama so far. forced a 3 and out and INT on D and have done whatever they wanted to on O for a 14-0 lead. alabama's D looks like it forgot to get on the plane with the rest of the team. of course, it's still early and the non-BCS team is always likely to be more fired up. have to see if bama is up to a comeback though.
i don't think they're really the best team in the country and nothing i've seen from the athletes on the field so far makes it look like they have the elite athletes the top teams do, but from a resume perspective, you really couldn't argue against them if they beat alabama (which is still 50+ minutes of football away). they would have beaten the highest ranked team OU beat (with TTU's loss), the highest ranked team FLA beat, the team that beat USC (strange that they have a connection to 3 of the other top 4 teams), thrown in another ranked team (which might be more than FLA has beat), and oh, they wouldn't have one of those pesky losses on their resume. by every measure except the name on their jersey they would be deserving of the #1 ranking.
Flat out. Texas Tech looked freaking awful today. I can blame the mud for some of it, but we just looked awful. My team and I deserve all of the heckling.
utah throws another TD on the board for 21-0. they have been essentially perfect and alabama looks like they either don't care or are just shell-shocked.
like i said before, same ol' tech team as past years, y'all just managed to drunkenly stumble around long enough to **** everything up before passing out. y'all caught Texas on its absolute worst day and still had to win at the very last second, and then somehow didn't blow the usual game or two you do every year just so that the 3-team tiebreaker happened instead of the 2 team tiebreaker OU and UT would usually be involved in. what a ridiculous set of circumstances to get ou into the title game.
