When I tuned in at the 2nd half since I have no vested interest in either team I analyzed the body language of both teams and I told my Dad that Kansas was going to win. Just liked Kansas physicality better. Memphis to me seemed soft. Great game to watch.
Memphis played more top tier teams this year than Kansas did - Kansas played exactly three ranked teams this year (Texas twice and UNC). Memphis played UConn, Georgetown, Tennessee, Michigan State, Texas, and UCLA.
I will remember this one for a long time: Memphis chokes it away to KU. I wanted Memphis to win, but congrats Jayhawks. A good friend of mine will be calling in the morning to brag.
And Memphis also played some sorta-ranked teams in USC, Gonzaga, and Arizona. Ultimately, none of those teams were considered all that good by season's end though.
CDR choked big time. If you are going to hold on to the ball you better make the fts. Rose looked bad down the stretch. Really bad.
You're right -- Memphis has technically had a stronger SOS than Kansas. But this is college basketball and there is a reason teams from major conferences win year in and year out - they are programmed like computers to remain calm in tough situations. Derrick Rose was literally hanging his head for the last 8 minutes of the game (including OT). He's still going to make a good pro but you have to play with pressure constantly on you throughout the season to persevere through March Madness. I would never put money on a team from a scrub conference when the game is on the line in March Madness. History supports me. Just my opinion.
How big was that Chalmers 3! I Absolutely HATE Kansas.... but I respect the hell out of Chalmers. Even having a pretty bad game he was still able to hit the clutch basket. What a game
