We find out for sure at 5 pm tomorrow. But for now, seemingly everyone still has Bama as one of the last teams in, despite a team like UNLV taking away another at large bid. I guess, all in all, they look at Alabama's 4 top 25 wins, and that ex-number 1 ranking, and they figure the committee won't be able to overlook that. I, for one, can't wait to see for sure. I just pray Texas holds on to the number 1 in the South. Right now, people are split on that as well. I wouldn't be shocked either way. I don't think Pitt has what it takes to move up to 1, but I could see OU taking our spot. Can't wait til the brackets are announced....
UPDATE 20 MINUTES BEFORE Teams I think are out by a hair --Bama (very sure they are out, too many late Ls) --St L (very sure they are out) --Zaga (pretty sure they are out, Bulter losing cost them) --Tenn (Auburn game may have killed them, they still could get in though) Teams in by a hair. --Butler (most likely mid-major at large) --S. Ill (2nd most likely mid-major--majorly sweating # SEC/BigE bids) --Ind (their good turney solidifies it) --ASU (RPI saves them) --Auburn (victory over Tenn HUGE) --Co (their turney victory big) --Setan Hall (very close between them an BC) --BC (them or the SH might be left out for an extra SEC--probably Tenn) Bubble teams, but safely in --MSU --LSU --BYU --UTAH --NCstate
You know my thoughts about Bama. UT will not be a #1 seed I don't think. If there are two #1s from the Big12 I think they will be the reg season and turney winners. There really isn't much seperating UT-OU-Kan--I think they favor the conference winners, plus Texas was the 1st to lose in the turney and to an NIT bound team--that didn't help. I just hope UT is the #2 seed in Pitts, Kans or OUs bracket--I don't want them to be sent out west which is what I am afraid of if the committee wants to put the big 12 elite in different brackets and go for conference balance. We will see, Texas and Zona are my favs, and I think honsetly two of the top 3 teams with shots to win it all--sure hope they are not both in the west. I am sweating this.
I'm ecstatic about Texas grabbing a one, and somewhat surprised that OU got the one in the east. I really felt Kansas would be rewarded for their regular season championship. I feel like Texas got a pretty kind draw as well in that region- some of the others are completely KILLER. About Bama- don't know what to say. I obviously saw your logic, but I just had a gut feeling all along that Bama would get in due to those quality wins. A lot of publications seemed to reaffirm that. I guess I feel bad for a team like BC, but oh well. We'll see how Bama does in the tourney. My biggest beef? Kentucky-Zona potential SEMIFINAL. That sucks. Put UK in the east, not the midwest- it's basically just as close going to Albany as it is to Minneapolis. Also, I think it is kinda whack that Pitt ends up being shipped off, while Syracuse could play in NY in the 3rd and 4th rounds. All in all, I'm not too upset about it all. Texas got a gift, and I hope they don't flame out to LSU (or Purdue) in round 2, so I'll get to see them fight for a final 4 berth in San Antonio.
HOLY CRAP!!!!!!! ALABAMA MADE IT!!! I have to admit myself they did not deserve it, but WOW!!! That is UNBELIEVEABLE!!!
