LOL you said the exact same thing last year. Weren't you supposed to not post for a year? Stop trying to act like a hardass if you aren't going to live up to your words.
Final AP Poll: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/appoll.htm 1 LSU (60) 12-2 1620 2 2 Georgia (3) 11-2 1515 4 3 Southern Cal (1) 11-2 1500 6 4 Missouri 12-2 1347 7 5 Ohio St. 11-2 1346 1 6 West Virginia 11-2 1342 11 7 Kansas (1) 12-1 1303 8 8 Oklahoma 11-3 1139 3 9 Virginia Tech 11-3 1096 5 10 Boston College 11-3 962 14 10 Texas 10-3 962 17 My thoughts: 1.) Personally, I'm quite pleased with a top four finish, as well as being clearly in front of Kansas and Oklahoma. Justice somewhat served for the Orange Bowl mess... 2.) Whoever the voters are that voted for USC and Kansas at No. 1 should be slapped. That's just ridiculous. 3.) Pleased to see Texas rewarded for pulling it together after the A&M game and dominating a good ASU team in the Holiday Bowl. In general, I'm somewhat surprised to see the teams that went out and took care of business in non-BCS games (Missouri, Texas) were rewarded every bit as much as those who took care of business in some of the fraudulent BCS contests. Kudos to them. As for the game, I'm glad to see a team that played legitimate OOC games finally rewarded instead of a team that scheduled the Akrons and Youngstown States of the world. I hope the voters keep this in mind come next fall. Props to LSU.
I was just thinking yesterday: Hawaii got so much crap and disrespect for having a cupcake schedule despite their perfect winning record ... but Ohio State gets the benefit of doubt despite losing to Illinois. (And to make matters worse, Illinois gets to go to the Rose Bowl). Were their strength of schedules really much different, or is it all perception? The Big Ten sucks. The Big Ten is the #1 reason why the BCS sucks. This much is fact. An LSU-Georgia, LSU-WVU or LSU-USC title game would have been much more interesting (of course, WVU and USC choking key regular season games away didn't help their causes).
If not for Michigan and Wisconsin(who made more of a game with Tennessee than OSU did LSU) the Big Ten would have been in big trouble. I think the real problem with the Big Ten is they are too bottom heavy. You got your usual suspects of Michigan, OSU, Wisconsin, and then another team who makes it competitive at the top(Purdue, Illinois, changes every year) but there seems to be no middle ground. My my, what has happened to Penn State?? After watching the Buckeyes tackling tonight, I wonder how they beat Michigan, and am not surprised at the Illinois loss anymore. I have told folks this in conversation, but OSU alums were so ticked off at losing to Michigan that they hired a guy whose number 1 priority was to beat them. He saves all his bag of tricks and what not for the Michigan game. He can go 1-11 but if that 1 is against Michigan then his job is secure. I wonder if the "super bowl" for OSU is the Michigan game. They dont seem to care much after that. Craig Krenzel, who is thought of up there the way Major Applewhite is thought of down here, took them to their only National Championship.
Just got myself on the waiting list for next year's BCS title game down here in Miami, where hopefully Florida will keep the title in the South.
Hawaii's strength of schedule was not just terrible, it was God awful. According to Sagarin's ratings for USA Today, Hawaii's strength of schedule ranking was #132. Appalachian freaking State had a better strength of schedule at #123. As for OSU, their SoS ranking was #53. The only team ahead of them in the final Top 25 that had a worse SoS was Kansas (#74). As for the other teams that were jockeying for entry into the National Championship game: Georgia (#23), Missouri (#25), USC (#29), West Virginia (#40), and Oklahoma (#44).
SEC! SEC! SEC! Boooyah!! SEC! SEC! SEC! I just want to say.. for the first time since 1950, Kentucky's football team can say they beat the National Champions!
This is what I didn't understand when it came to the Heisman race and Colt Brennan. I don't hold anything against Colt, but I'm glad Hawaii's coach experienced a massive beatdown by a fellow SEC team after badmouthing Tebow. Chang or whoever their last qb was put up ridiculous numbers too. Why did everyone suddenly give Hawaii a pass this season? I said it at the beginning of this season, I'll see if I can find the actual post: The championship game should be between the SEC champs and whoever is the best remaining team in the country. I think this should hold true next year too. The SEC breeds champions.
As a Big XII guy, I just want to say that 4 of the Top 10 teams in both final polls are from the Big XII. (This is more than any other conference.) Yeah, it's trivial, but still, at least it's something to hang your hat on.

Hoorey for LSU. Thankfully they didn't try to split the NC like when the AP voters gave their piece to SC a few years ago (part of USC's claim of a 1.5 peat). That said, Mizzou got overrated (slightly) and WV got jobbed. I can buy Mizz being ahead of Kansas because of that game won between them plus KU's cake schedule, but WV bombed the conference champion who handled Mizzou twice while both Mizz and Kan beat lesser foes. There is no way WVU should have ended behind both. Either put Kan ahead of the 3 because of the 1 loss and 1 quality victory (but overlook the rest of the schedule) OR go with WV as the most impressive of the 2 loss teams and put KU behind both. Basically WV should have been 4 or 5 (ahead of OSU and Mizz) in both polls, no question. I think it should have been 1) LSU, 2) tie SC/Geo, 4) WV, 5) Mizz, 6) Kan, 7) tOSU, 8) OK, 9) tie Vtech/Texas. FINally, tOSU totally showed up. They played a more talented team and gave them a good run, outplaying them 2 quarters. tOSU is a good team and Tressell is a great coach--if a Buckeye fan was told he would go 1-2 against the 3 teams he has coached a NC game against they should take that performance in a heart beat (go look at the firepower disadvatage he has had). Compare that to Bob Stoops recent BCS performance depsite the explosiveness Stoops has had to work with (including Peterson and lots of current/future pro WRs).
That, and 8 of the 12 were bowl-eligible. A 5-3 record isn't bad at all. Big XII: 2. Kansas 5. Oklahoma 6. Missouri 12. Texas 24. Texas Tech 27. Oklahoma State 42. Texas A&M 52. Kansas State 56. Colorado 61. Nebraska 92. Iowa State 117. Baylor
