I hope you're right, but we'll see. First few drives of the second half can be huge to see if teams can make any significant adjustments. Not that there was much of a chance of a split in the first place, but if LSU can continue to pile on, there is no way the AP splits the vote, imo. Big sack, there....
I hope i'm wrong. i'm pulling for OSU, but damn, whats with the quick starts and then just laying over?
This is an apples to oranges comparison, really, but Tressel ball is a lot like the current Titans. They aren't going to lose many games and they will knock the crap out of people and be generally effective. Against the best teams, however, you have to put points on the board. Three yards and a cloud of dust (er, astroturf) just isn't going to cut it against the best of the best.
LSU methodically picks apart the OSU defense and has a somewhat sizable lead at the half. Kind of like last year. At least it's only 14 down at the half this year (compared to 34-14 against the Gators). There's still a chance of making this a game in the second. But if OSU gets killed again, they (maybe even the entire Big Ten) should not be ranked in the top 10 as a rule. Even Nortre Dame thinks this is getting ridiculous.
I like this comparison...solid but unspectacular... Stick a fork in em, they're done. It's like only the first drive of the game is scripted (kind of like Texans games early on during the Kuby era) and everything's too predictable after the initial burst of emotion/energy. Congratulations LSU, and thanks OSU for making me that much less interested in a "national" powerhouse team.
I knew this would happen. Look, I'm not a hater, but OSU is a fraud. The highest ranked team they've played all year (to this point) was ranked #21.
