Basically he digs himself a hole, big enough and seemingly impossible to fill.... then he is filling it

Rockets are undefeated when Josh Smith hits his pull up threes.

Honestly, just shoot. Be confident. If he hits, we usually win.

is it legal to take your FT's from the 3 point line?

It's an alarming habit, although he only waited 1 1/2 games in the Mavs series before turning it on. So we know he's capable of playing well before the Rockets' entire season is on the line.

Honestly though, it's most of the team, not just Smith. There was no sense of urgency with the Rockets in Games 1, 3, and 4 vs the Clippers. Even the first 2 1/2 quarters of Game 2 saw them still playing lazy defense. And in Game 3 in this series, no one other than Dwight showed up.

My biggest concern with Smith is when he has a performance like in Game 2. It's one thing when his shot isn't falling, but he can't be jacking up 17 of them(and only making 5). Find other ways to make contributions and let the rest of the players take those shots.

Definitely agree with you, like whole team procrastinates on putting it all out there... Then when their backs are against the wall go all out, I just hope it's not too late against Warriors... Also definitely agree on Smith, I hope he's hot the rest of the series so his hero ball stuff works... And when he hits his shot, he's more likely to play defense.

Nothing else to lose, no room to doubt, no need to complain, let all those mental blocks go and just play the game.

I wish avoid-elimination-games Josh Smith was a thing. If he played anywhere near his standard in Golden State we'd be up 3-1 by now.

It's something they'll hopefully learn from heading into next season(barring the comeback for the ages). They have to compete for 48 minutes every night. These mental lapses are the reason they've blown so many leads even to crappy opponents. They got away with against the Mavs. They were able to survive(barely) against the Clippers. But when you run into a buzzsaw like the Warriors, even a 3-minute slump like late in Game 1 turns a tie score into an 11-point deficit.

Josh has done exactly that one-step-further FT before, and it probably did not work well for him. Actually there was a picture posted on Clutchfans maybe a year ago, and the reaction was "He needs to fix his brain first".

Basically for us to REALLY make this a series again , good Josh Smith, Brewer and Terry (altogether) have to play close to perfect. There is nothing wrong with believing.
