The Rockets/Lakers game should still on NBC. NBC crews are going to follow the team on the road and on their charter plane this week and will be doing a behind the scenes look with the team that will air before the game. As a Rocket fan it should be an interesting look at the team off of the court. Old School ------------------ Just Build It!
It's based on merit, guys, and it's actually a good thing. NBC is after one thing and one thing only: ratings. They know they can get them by televising winning teams. Primarily, if not exclusively, that's what they show. And that actually works in Houston's favor. We tend to be a winning team, meaning year in and year out, we'll be on NBC if they televise games based on success. The flip side of that would be televising teams based on their market size and their reputation. Do I have to point out how disastrous this could potentially be for Houston? Hell, it'd be a Lakers-Bulls/Celtic-76ers doubleheader every weekend. Our best bet is to win games. The rest will take care of itself. If we start encouraging NBC to pick games based on intangible qualities, we're just asking to get screwed. Because, unfortunately, most of the rest of the country doesn't seem to understand that the Rockets represent nothing less than the ultimate sporting endeavor, and, in fact, the apogee of human culture.
