This is what scares me as a Rockets fan. My preference for rolling with what we have is growing everyday. Have fun watching the young guys and hope for two lotto picks next season.

Yes, it certainly will help with one star already in.

It's not everyday a Jordan, Hakeem etc comes to u in a draft. You got to be able to sign free agents

True. The same way that players wanted to go to Houston when Yao was still healthy. That's all we need. A true superstar with a bright future and all these big names will start mentioning us on their lists for a chance to play with our superstar.

    Track thanks for your honesty.

I was against bombing out but with the crew Daryl has assembled, hell I'm excited as a fan regardless of any big fish landing soon. If Lin can deliver most of what he has shown Toyota will be rockin.

Miami got lucky and drafted Wade. Wade with the help of the NBA won a championship and lured his two buddies over to South Beach. South Beach is a pretty nice place to hang out especially if you're a young millionaire athlete. The James and Bosh signings ending up being SnTs. They didn't leave much money off the table.

Knicks overpaid for one superstar financially, and traded the farm for the other one. 1 playoff win and crappy basketball for years does not make a team enjoyable to watch.

You forgot that they need a little bit of luck and opportunity to make a trade happen. Luck trumps experience, reputation, and networking.

I learned science and I believe every event occuring in this world has got a reason. win, lose, injury all have their own reasons, whether we know it or not. So luck is not in my dictionary.

Great read. The authors and by the comments left on the site.

Totally explains Morey's all-in approach this year. We can't win without a superstar and with or without Dwight, he is still the key to our future.

These next few weeks are gonna get TERRIBLY exciting!

Daryl Morey getting Jeremy Lin back to Houston is huge. Everything will be fine, you'll see.

The problem with this entire line of thinking is that acquiring a player through a trade when he has made it clear that he is NOT THE LEAST BIT INTERESTED in the destination is practically unprecedented where superstars are involved and that's true not only in this sport but practically any other.

Orlando's reputation alone (as well the GM's involved) amongst NBA players, agents etc will take a huge hit for exiling Dwight this way.

Orlando would be putting him in a terrible position of having to decide to walk away in a year and disappoint a franchise and it's fan base just because he wants to exercise his right of free agency which he has fairly earned with his years of loyalty Orlando.

    Best case it's a WIN/LOSE scenario they're creating.

Duly noted by every single superstar in the league along with their agents who would ever possibly consider Orlando as a destination again.

It's a bad faith proposition. I doubt a new GM wants any part of that.

He's going to keep looking for a deal that results in a soft landing for Dwight and still brings the value he's looking for in return, if he can possibly arrange for that.

Even if he can't, he's is going to want to make sure he makes every effort to do so to avoid massive criticism when all is send and done.
