    Shall we start one?

    Wife Swap
    Fear Factor
    Bachelor/Bachelorette
    All ABC "comedies"
    All CBS "comedies"
    Commander in Chief
    Dancing with Celebrities
    Skating with Celebrities
Joey (it hasn't been cancelled, yet)
    ER
All of the CSI's (I may be in the minority here, but I think all of them suck)

In the world of Wipe Swap, The Apprentice, Survivor, Jerry Springer, and Biggest Loser, a show like West Wing has no chance. TV viewers are stupid, banal, insipid lowest common denominators. It had to go so they could make a time slot for World's Greatest Mullet.

You guys are ridiculous sometimes. It couldn't possibly be that the writing started getting really sloppy when Aaron Sorkin left the show or that the plots started getting sillier and siller. It has to be that America is dumb, that anyone who didn't like the last few seasons of West Wing is an inbread idiot. Lovely.

i generally agree with this....but i'm encouraged by some of the new shows out there right now. i've been saying "tv sucks" for quite some time. but there's some smart writing and good concepts out there right now.

Damn...I love this show...This season has been great...The writing isn't as good as the early seasons, but is still very smart...I'll miss it...Matt Santos will be president for only a little while... :(

My friends converted me into the fan. I am only into season 3 right now but the story line is really good. I heard it went downhill after the creator left.

"Hey look at me - I watch the West Wing, I must be smart."

Don't worry, you still have the D&D if you get off on a bunch of liberals preaching to you.

When did anyone say that not watching the West Wing means that you are an idiot or that watching means you are smart? That's not my point at all. My point is that the dregs of entertainment seem to be winning out over the smarter shows or the well written shows that actually make a person think. Look at Arrested Development. The writing is simply too good for the average tv viewer.

If you don't think America is becoming more dumb by the minute, you haven't been paying attention. I don't have any of the stats, but I'd like to see where the USA ranks in math and science 20 years ago, 10 years ago and today. It's got nothing to do with a tv show going off the air. It's got everything to do with many Americans not having the ability to enjoy an show that might actually teach you something other than how to eat 20 scorpions in a minute.

I would say you would need to be a little above the average in intelligence to enjoy West Wing. The dialog is fast, the issues are grey and the implications are sometimes implied so it requires some thinking to understand the plots.

But the majority of people are either of average intellegence or below (by definition) so there'e no mystery to why the television industry is pandering to the lowest common denomnator. After all their real goal is just to sell the most soap. They have no obligation to inform or educate.

I really like West Wing while Aaron Sorkin did the writing (the first four years?). After that it became just another TV show.

This is also Will & Grace's last year.

Thank God it wasn't. Seasons 5 & 6 were AWFUL. 7 has been a bit of a redemption. I'm really curious how they're going to deal with Leo's death.

The season finale to season 2 ("Two Cathedrals") gets me every time. If it's on Bravo, I'll stop what I'm doing and watch it, even though I own it on DVD already.

    Yet another "amen".

Anybody know where I could grab a torrent of last nights episode (I'd gladly pay for it, but it's not available on iTunes). My father in-law is a nuclear engineer, and i suspect he'd have some "issues."

Although you'll probably need the xvid codec if you don't already have it:
