    *NBATALK's Perfect Trade

BOOM. LA just blew up.  And the ice in Toronto just melted.
Can Kobe get along with Shaq?  Can Kobe share the spotlight?  Will Vince re-sign in Toronto?  Can Vince ever win a title in Toronto? We've read the debates all year and now we have an answer to all of these questions and like any good trade, this one meets both teams' needs.  Kobe can have the spotlight all to himself and Vince can have the suporting cast he desperately needs.  Ranters start your engines!

Note: RumorTalk is a feature where we play GM and put together hypothetical trades that conform to team needs and salary cap issues. We repeat this is NOT a trade rumor. We have NO information that these two teams are talking. This is merely a hypothetical trade!

***Lakers get: Vince Carter, Charles Oakley, and Michael "Yogi" Stewart

***Raptors get: Kobe Bryant, Greg Foster, Tyronne Lue, and Devean George

    Laker Line Up:

    C: Shaq
    PF: Oakley/Grant
    SF: Fox
    SG: Carter
    PG: Harper

Why it works for LOS ANGELES:

Kobe said he'd be a Laker for life but he's not getting along with Shaq or Phil Jackson for that matter.  He wants to be the man and Shaq has a pretty huge shadow.  If there is one guy out there that gets the hype of Kobe its Carter.  Carter is a year older, but not as polished as Kobe, but his star power, right now is greater.  Carter also seems less selfish and after experiencing playing on a losing team without much of a supporting cast, would embrace playing with Shaq.  Oakley gives them another grizzled power forward hungry for a ring. Stewart's huge deal would be hard to swallow, but he could give Shaq 5 or 6 minutes of rest a game.  That alone may be worth it.

How it works for LOS ANGELES:

If the Lakers would send out all of these players they can take back $11,073,517 in salaries (Bryant $7,593,750 [75% byc figure], Foster $1,764,247, George $849,720, Lue $865,800). The combined salaries of Carter, Oakley and Stewart are $11,835,940 (Carter $2,425,440, Oakley $5,890,500, Stewart $3,520,000) which fits well within the 15% +100,000 cushion the CBA gives them.

    Raptors Line Up:

    C Willis
    PF Davis
    SF Williamson
    SG Bryant
    PG Jackson

    Why it works for TORONTO:

Maybe Vince Carter wanted to finish his career in Toronto.  We''ll never know. The Raptors are nervous that he (along with Antonio Davis) may follow Tracy McGrady to warmer climates and brighter lights. Kobe is just as talented and still has another 4 seasons left on his deal. George is another athletic talent that they can afford to develop better than the Lakers. Foster and Lue are throw-ins, but they only have one more year remaining on their deal.  Maybe best of all, the Raptors are rid of that ridiculous $24 million dollar deal they gave to Stewart and will surely have some cap room next year.

    How it works for RAPTORS:

The Raptors would be sending out $11,835,940 (Carter $2,425,440, Oakley $5,890,500, Stewart $3,520,000) and getting back $13,604,767 from the Lakers (Bryant $10,125,000, Foster $1,764,247, George $849,720, Lue $865,800).  That just barely fits within the 15% + $100,000 cushion that the CBA allows them.
Rumor Talk explores trade possibilities and free-agent signings, giving insight into why they should or shouldn't happen. Although we try to present only those possibilities that make sense, the transactions mentioned here are purely hypothetical.
But the question remains . . . who comes out the winner?

Carter definitely has a big ego, but he's not even in the same ball park as kobe bryant (probably because even the biggest park can only hold KB)

And just why would Kobe want to go to Toronto? Stupid Trade. Face it, if either Shaw or Kobe gets trades, LA is getting the worse end of the deal. Kobe needs to grow up and quit trying to fill Jordons shoes!
