Rockets: On Tuesday the Rockets worked out Arizona forward Michael Wright. One Houston official at the workout said he was "shocked" at how well Wright shot the ball. Recently a Wildcats assistant coach said the Wright was the best shooter on Arizona last year. Expect Wright to be one of the most closely watched players in Chicago next week
Wright will make a very good backup PF in this league for a long time but nothing more. Some random information -Played HS ball with the one and only Kevin Garnett -Junior with Arizona -6'8'' or 6'7''...his stock could PLUMMET if he measures shorter, if he measures over 6'8'', he could rise quickly. If Michael Wright was 6'10'', we'd be talking lotto pick for him. His height deficiencies really hurt him. -Excellent rebounder, knack for the ball. -Best in post. Not really known as a great outside shooter, which is why it probably why it surprised the Rockets. Pretty good around the rim, very good FT shooter. -Very good fundamentals, such as sealing off a defender. -Very mature player, not very raw, but not much more potential left to scratch. Already prepared physically (I think he's around 6'7'' 240?) -Defense is ok, nothing spectacular If we were to trade Kenny Thomas, Wright would be an excellent pick to fill the backup PF void. Otherwise, not very useful for us. ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.
