A league source told NBATalk that Krause has put feelers out to other teams to see what he could get in return for Miller and the pick as a combo deal. The source also said that if Miller is not traded soon, then the Bulls will opt out of his current 3-year $15 million dollar deal. He signed the deal before last season, but only the first year was guaranteed, with the Bulls having the option for the remaining years.

Chicago seems like a likely trade partner. I wonder if we could get something done to acquire either Miller, the #4 pick, or both?

    Thoughts?

Give Floyd Cato and 13th pick....

We get Miller as a backup C, plus we get to keep Dream. Then we draft Kwame Brown.

    C - Dream/Miller/Brown
    PF - Webber (or Taylor)/Brown
    SF - Draft (18 or 22)/Bullard/Langhi
    SG - CAT/Francis
    PG - Francis/Norris

    Sounds great to me!

That's what the other teams will be saying after being shellshocked by Steve Francis and Co.

I am sure the asking price will be heavy. I don't think they'd go for anyone less than Cat or a combination of solid players. I don't see us dealing with Krause.

I like Miller, and he would be a good addition.

Can you tell me why the Bulls would trade a much lower pick for a lottery pick, and a capable center for a worthless one?

    Just asking......

    Hey, I can dream can't I?

Also doesn't Floyd have history with Cato? I think Floyd was his college coach. But you are right, it doesn't compute. Maybe we can add the #22 pick and so cheeseburgers for Krause fat-a$$ [IMG]

Any trade involving Shandon would pretty much eliminate any chance of signing Webber outwright, and we would also lose trade bait to give to the Kings in a sign-and-trade for him. It would be great to trade up and get Brown or Griffen, but I don't see it happening. If the Rockets do trade up, it will likely be in the 6-10 range. I don't think Rudy would want to draft a HS kid at this point.

Ah, the one thing I may have gotten correct in my mock. And it could be the Rockets selecting Kwame.

If the RGM trade works then would we have to include WIz to make room for Web. That would still leave us with sf and C need.

Why would Chicago want Shandon? Ron Artest is a defensive stopper, and they have Mercer as well. If they wanted a swingman, Richardson is there at #4.

I'd trade Cato and the Drew obligation for Miller. It cuts Cato from our roster, gives us a Rudy type center, and saves about 2 mill cap wise. #4 will more likely than not be out of reach, unless we want to give the Bulls all of our picks-I'm talking #13, #18, #22, Detroit obligation, and their own obligation.

Further, if Chicago wants Shandon, they can probably sign him more than we can outright (assuming we don't want to go past Early Bird), so why S/T for him? He also wouldn't count as 2.2 mill, more like 4-5 mill.

DH Rocket-I agree with your point on moving up. I think even 6 may be pushing it, but I could see 7-9 possible. However, Shandon makes no direct difference on CWebb, other than sharing an agent with Hakeem. Remember, Sac. has Peja and Hedo at the SF, and Doug Christie is a defensive stopper at the SG, meaning he's coming off the bench there.

According to the Chicago Sun Times, before last February's trade deadline, "the Bulls and Timberwolves discussed a deal that would have sent Szczerbiak and William Avery to the Bulls for Marcus Fizer, Ron Artest and Khalid El-Amin, according to several sources."

I read that as they were wanting to get better players in return for depth. Fizer was a disappointment for them this year, and they wanted to dump him and Aretest for Wally and Avery...El-Amin was icing.

In regards to wanting Shandon, I can see it if the offer is right. Obviously they feel the 3 is a spot that they need filled....if rumors were correct.

    Just a thought...

If we got the Bulls pick and managed to keep our number 13 selection to go with it and we drafted both Kwame Brown as a PF and Loren Woods for center then would we still want C-Webb?

I know this scenario is about as likely as us winning the NBA championship this year but it was just a thought. Personally I don't know if I would still want C-Webb.

Actually, for brad miller and the #4 pick, we would probably have to give Cato, #13 pick, and #22. This may be the minimum we could give them. The real deal here is the draft picks. Nobody really cares about the players being involved. A number 4 pick in this draft is huge, so we would have to compensate by giving more than just a #13. I would do this trade without thinking about it if it involved both of our first round picks.

I say trade Cato, #13, #22, for Miller, #4. Then draft Kwame Brown, screw C-Webb. With the cap space, sign M. Jackson and Taylor, Moochie, and Langhi, and draft the best sf at #18.

    Check that out:
    Jackson/Miller
    Taylor/Brown
    #18 (hopefully Jefferson), Bullard, Langhi
    Cat/Francis
    Francis/Moochie

    Daammmn.

So let me get this straight.

They give us a pick far better than the one we give them.

They give us a center better than the one we give them.

We throw in a SG/SF that is probably a bench player for them with the talent they currently have.

And they're supposed to bite on this?

I know the Bulls had shown a lot of interest in Cato the year the Rocks got him in the Portland deal. In fact the deal the Rocks signed Cato to was partly in response of the Bulls wanting to go after Cato, he was a free agent at the end of that year. Floyd was Cato's coach on Iowa State, and they made it to the Sweet 16. I can see the Bulls wanting a big, athletic, shot-blocking young center with a ton of potential, who is locked up for several year. And Cato wouldn't mind Chicago I guess, and that would make it better. If the Bulls did it, I would trade Cato straight up for Brad Miller.

If we were to do a trade with Chicago for Miller, would we still have the right to exercise the team option on his contract? If we could opt out & resign him for less, that would give us more cap space.
