How do you play friends you just met or that you have saved on your ps3 friends list? I want to challenge them directly instead of telling them to meet me in a certain lobby!

I'm at my cousin's house and he just bought this game for the PS3. Here's our dilemma:

We got online and updated our roster, but when we try to play a quick game (vs cpu), injured players are not on the game roster. For example, if we played with the Rockets, Yao isn't in the lineup.

So how do we fix it so that injured players are on the game rosters? TIA.

If its anything like other 2k games you can't play with players on injure reserve online because their trying to make it as realistic as possible. If you're playing offline you should be able to change who's a reserve by changing you're rotations before you start the game.

From the main screen, hit the right analog to bring up the menu, then select "General Manager", then "Manage Rosters", and then "Rosters". Once you're there, find the Rockets and see if you can place Yao back into the starting lineup.

I don't have the game in front of me so I'm not sure if that's the exact process, but you should be able to find your way.

Thanks pmac and CCR. Had to reinsert Yao back into the rotation and reset him into the lineup before each game.

you don't have to do it each game, once you set him in the lineup in the Manager Roster list, save your roster again, and he'll be in the lineup permanently. I had to do this recently since I bought the game like a month ago, $25 at Frys :), it was a b**** for me putting in Wade/Mourning all the time when I was playing the Heat yesterday.

Fun game, and if u want ridiculous dunks, play with the Bobcats, JRich and Gerald Wallace does some insane stuff....

Thanks. I was trying to do that earlier, but it wouldn't let me switch a player with 0 minutes into the starting lineup. Just barely figured out how to adjust each player's minutes though. So I'm set. Thanks y'all.

Guys use this roster for this PS3. It has updated rookies, edits, etc... Its vastly superior to anything 2K puts out. These are top notch rosters.

Save them to your storage device in a folder called SAVEDATA.
Put SAVEDATA into a folder called PS3.
Put storage device in PS3, hit triangle at the game data icon, and copy the save file to your PS3.
    Enjoy

I've always been an NBA2k guy but they've started to lose their appeal to me. I might switch over to the dark side and go live for 09. I'm not really enamored by 2ks gameplay anymore and their presentation is just downright horrible along with their menu structure.

I haven't played live since PS1, so it'll be interesting.

EA hired the head guy at 2K to fix Live. So if you go with Live this year you will be playing a game striving to be like 2K. They already added lock down D.

My only thing about the 2K series is that the AI can be too tough at times... I swear that game cheats. :D

Yes they do cheat...but its only to simulate the toughness of a real game. In reality there are times that someone will make a shot on you or will stop you even if you do everything right.

Live sucks. Just like everything EA makes, they are more interested in having the most people enjoy their game than having the game be more of a simulation. I haven't played live '08 but i know i wouldn't like it. That "hard" element is exactly what i like and live has never gotten that down.

Hmmm, that's not exactly what I wanted to hear, but oh well. I'll still probably check out live anyway. From the music to the options setup, I can't stand the way 2k presents itself anymore. Things like create-a-player are only found by going through like 4 submenus. I don't know if Live is any better but I'm willing to give it a shot.

Live does suck, I don't know about 08, but the one with Tmac on the cover (07?), it really blew...You would go on a fast break and try to dunk and miss almost half the time, even with someone like tmac or kobe

The gameplay in live sucked too...2K is a good basketball game but the graphics look a little arcade-ish

my best friend loves NBA LIVE 08, mainly because of the graphics during timeouts.
    but during gameplay??
    TRASH!!
    framerate- TRASH!
making the stands look dark like its the staples center- FAIL!
slow boring gameplay like im watching the San Antonio Spurs vs Detroit Pistons

    2K is where its at.
EA can eat a dick and die.

And that's the main thing i usually here. Maybe i've just played through too many system generations but after 360 came out i could really care less about graphics. Every game i've ever played on 360 has as good enough graphics as i'll ever care about. The only way i would get excited about the actual graphics is if they actually got Tmac and Lebron to go at it one on one in my driveway.

Gameplay is the only thing i care about in video games now.

Live can not compare to 2k in gameplay . 2k is vastly superior in gameplay. 2k needs to improve there presentation / menus tho.
