If that's really what the game looks like, then I'm sold. However, it will not look like that. I'm telling you for sure. I don't care how powerful the Xbox2 is, a game only looks as good as the artists can make it. And there's no way they can make these graphics that quickly. An animated movie that you just watch for 2 hours takes years, but a videogame of similar quality that you play REAL-TIME only took them a few months so far? I'll believe it when I see it.

I've been playing NBA2k6 for the ps2, though. And let me tell you that it's awesome! Go get that game right now!

Well, I guess it must be a good sign that most, if not all, development teams are growing very rapidly for next-gen, especially in the area of artists.

What "animated" movies have you seen that look that bad? I mean, these graphics are amazing...for a game. But for a CGI film..not really. CGI films have individually rendered hair, extremely hi-res textures, realistic animations (missing from NBA 2K6 for sure), no jaggies whatsoever, no plastic shine, and more (lighting, detailed models for EVERYTHING on screen, etc.). NBA 2K6 looks awesome, but it isn't at CGI-film quality quite yet. It looks like NBA 2K6 is doing great with shaders and texture mapping, but look a little more closely at the models (including the ball and some players' fingers), and you can see some imperfections. I don't even think I saw much shadows, especially not any self-shadowing. If a CGI-film just had to meet those requirements, it wouldn't take their machines a hour to render 1/30th of a second. Although to be fair to VC, they're going for 60 FPS, so maybe it could have looked better.

I guess some people could be skeptic, but once IGN, Gamespot, and others all said this was from the gameplay clip VC showed them, I don't really see why anyone would doubt it. FWIW, they must not have been paying attention to any next-gen games if they think this is way too unrealistic to expect. Just check out some PGR 3 gameplay clips:

BTW, this is supposed to be what Top Spin will look like as well:

the amount of detail is cool in those photos, but IMO...there is wayyyy too much emphasis on the sweat. Seriously. I'd rather have a cooler looking arenas and life like faces than buckets of sweat.

    Damnnnnnmmm, that's nice.

I won't buy a next-gen console, though, unless Halo 3 just really blows me away. I play Halo 2 and only Halo 2 (even though I have a ton of other games), and that's all that's needed in the way of gaming.

Come on EA.....no all-start weekend, or even worse, no franchise mode on NBA Live 360?!?!? What the hell?!?!

I guess they'll add it back next year for Live 2007 and say "all new" on the back of the box.
