Seriously, STFU with that nonsense. If anyone said anything remotely critical of McG during the regular season they had about 45 T-Macaroons calling out their fanhood. Just because most of them are too swamped down with their summer reading now doesn't mean they weren't the ones who started it.

Don't know which GARM you have been on, but there are more people who criticize TMac than those who support him. Regardless, it's one thing to criticize TMac's play due to frustration of losing, but to get on people who post videos of him or praise him IN THE OFF SEASON is just plain hate. It's you and Tinman who should STFU with the nonsense and stop degenerating all the threads into a "real" rockets fan and/or anti tmac cr ap.

wow, a thread that was started by a poster to give a heads up to ROCKET FANS who want (IF they want to watch it or not, nobody is forcing them to) tracy mcgrady in some of his best games get this kind of responses.

Don't worry, you didn't do anything wrong. With the exception of the two thread crappers, your post is very appreciated by everyone else. If anyone is to be blamed for what happened here, it has to be Antisonic, Tinman and Me. Even though I was only defending the anti TMac and the anti new fan rhetorics. Oh well.

Guys in all seriousness the point tinman and AntiSonic are trying to make is that this thread does not belong in the GARM because it's Orlando vs Detroit. Not Houston vs Orlando or Houston vs Detroit. The GARM is to discuss the Houston Rockets, it's past or present players, coaches, staff, or make ridiculous trade threads where then I guess we're entitled to post other team's player videos. Somehow this thread just got derailed...badly.

Last I checked TMac is still current Houston player. Anyways, dunno what you have been reading, but first I have seen tons of videos about former and current Rockets players (not playing for Houston) thats posted here. Second, for Tinman it was more about his opinion that people who enjoy TMac's videos from Orlando days are not true Rockets fan, than it was about how relevant it is to be posted here. As for Antisonic he never made any points, he was just piling on Anti TMac cr ap.

I assume Rookies here are pretty much NBA newbs,
its appears that Sir Charles (by the newbs here) was a fat guy who retired with the Rockets and turned into a TV Analyst who they think is out for demonizing the Rockets.

They totally forgot who Charles Barkley the player was. So I posted that picture cause I know many of you don't know that he was the league MVP at one point.

    sook,

let's say the showed a vintage Rockets (Steve/Cuttino) vs Orlando (Tmac) and the Rockets won that game. Who people here be happy about that game?

    1. The Rockets of Steve/Cuttino putting on a whipping on the East
    2. Tmac scoring lots of points

I know I'm rooting for the Steve/Cuttino dudes with the clown jerseys saying "HOUSTON" on it.

I see your point's legitimacy, but you gotta admit it is fun watching an 8th seed team temporarily put a whooping on a 1st seed.

As far as the hou vs orl thing, watching the Cat/Francis alley oops all day was fun to watching too!

    Hey Sook,

Take a trip down memory lane.. not so long ago
Remember, that Orlando and the rest of the (L)Eastern Conference were the whipping boys for Steve/Cuttino Rockets.

Oh yes, even that 'guy' and that beloved Orlando team got destroyed. Cuttino Mobley shutting down a 2003 Tmac? How's that possible? did that happen?

    Dare to click?

Francis, Mobley get job done for Rockets / Guards fill void in 96-86 win over Magic

    By JONATHAN FEIGEN
    Staff

That Yao Ming. What a ball hog.

Or maybe not. But the saving grace for the Rockets on Saturday was that the always careful shot selection and high-percentage shooting of Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley can still carry them.

That might not quite fit the reputation of the Rockets' guards, or for that matter, anything about the selfless center. But the Rockets had little choice but to go back to their backcourt Saturday in a 96-86 win over the Magic that seemed to show the old days were not all bad.

While Yao misfired, Maurice Taylor joined Eddie Griffin as a suspended power forward and Jim Jackson clanged iron as he rarely has, the Rockets partied like it was 1999-2000.

Francis and Mobley, like old fastball pitchers who can still bring it when they have to, carried the otherwise struggling offense like they did in previous seasons, combining to make 20 of 32 shots for their 52 points (31 for Francis and 21 for Mobley) before 18,148 fans at Toyota Center.

"Between them, they really hurt us, both their penetration and shooting," Magic coach Doc Rivers said. "In the first half, it was Francis. In the second half, it was Mobley."

Throughout the game, the Rockets suffocated Tracy McGrady, with Mobley leading a harassing, helping defense that had the All-Star rattling rims from start to finish. But for all that has changed about the Rockets, the source of their scoring has not.

Francis and Mobley led the Rockets on Saturday and lead them in scoring for the fifth consecutive season. It will become the longest streak ever for a pair of Rockets scorers if it lasts, surpassing the Hakeem Olajuwon and Ralph Sampson run.

"I don't think there were too many poor shots by Cuttino or myself," Francis said. "We were getting the ball open, and Coach was calling our numbers a lot.

"But we're just taking what the defense gives us. And we're starting inside with our big man. We tried to get him going all throughout the game. Even late in the game, we tried to get him the ball. He did a good job swinging the ball around getting guys shots."

If that rules out Yao as a ball hog, he was part decoy, part point center.

Yao really did not take bad shots but just shot badly. He made six of 18 attempts but drew enough attention to help spring Rockets shooters on the perimeter and added his most aggressive rebounding effort of the season. Yao and Kelvin Cato each had 11 rebounds.

"A lot of that (scoring) came from Yao, his passing," Rivers said. "I know Patrick Ewing didn't teach him to pass."

The other obvious improvement was on defense, where the Rockets even employed some zone and many zone tendencies to smother McGrady into a 5-of-21 night shooting and just 14 points, less than half his 2002-03 average. The Rockets grabbed a season-high 51 rebounds, got all kinds of help from their latest power forwards off the bench, Torraye Braggs and Scott Padgett, and never really seemed in trouble.

"On nights like this, you have to stop the other team from scoring," Jackson said. "That helps you overcome the droughts. When you need Steve and Cuttino to step up, you can still go on the other end of the court and stop (the opponent) from scoring. That's the difference. You can trade baskets back and forth. But eventually, you're going to have to stop somebody.

"You have to build confidence in your defense that you can shut somebody down."

Yao made four of his first 15 shots, missed even a relatively uncontested dunk, and was so off target that even the elbow he directed at Juwan Howard's chin after Howard's hard foul came up short.

Tyronn Lue hit the free throw for Yao's technical, and Yao hit one to keep the Rockets' lead at seven with 2:50 left. A Francis free throw and jumper pushed the lead to double digits, and when Francis missed from the corner, Yao grabbed his sixth offensive rebound and scored to push the Rockets' lead to a safe 96-84 with 66 seconds left.

It was probably safe long before that when there seemed to be little McGrady could do and little Mobley could do wrong.

"Cuttino did a good job of having a hand in his face every single time," Francis said. "Everybody did a good job. That's what you want - everybody on the team helping on him."

Still, McGrady has beaten the best defenses, and on those occasions, the player assigned him seems to be burned worst. Teammates said they saw no signs of Mobley taking special pleasure in outplaying last season's scoring champion, but he likely had to if the Rockets were to win.

"You're talking about Cat," said Cato, who had a double double of 10 points and 11 rebounds in 30 minutes. "Cat's up for everything. Every time we play, I don't care who we play or who he's up against, he's up for basketball. He lives for basketball."

For all that has changed about the Rockets, that much has not. Still playing to prove himself, Mobley offered a complete game on Saturday when he and Francis showed the old model can still work.

"I definitely enjoy it," Mobley said of facing McGrady. "I want to show people I can play. Jeff gives me that type of opportunity to showcase. He has high expectations of me. Steve and I, Jeff kept calling our plays."

He called a few for Yao, too. But before the Rockets had a 7-6 gifted center, they had Francis and Mobley. Saturday, they showed they still do.

definitely dude, but i have no regrets about trading both of them tbh. With the franchise's dribblemania night in and out Yao would never get involved.

God just give us health and hopefully we will move forward next year and have another championship to brag about :)

of course I'm happy we got the trade.

2003? I'll always remember the Rockets smashing the Eastern Conference while some people relish Tmac's scoring.

God gave us Tru Warier! ;)

I can't believe people get this emotional about where a topic is posted. Their life off the internet has to be in critical condition.

Well it keeps order. If it didn't matter then why have different sections within a forum?

Well let whoever does the moving move the thread then. No need to go back and forth on something so pointless. When people posted a thread about Joey Dorsey National Championship Game against Kansas nobody complained, it really isn't that big of a deal.

Yea I see what you're saying all in all we're all Rockets fans and that's all that matters. Hopefully we can continue to have an argument free board.
