So, how about a sign and trade Lowry plus Andersen, plus #14, for Iggy? Then you still got plenty of pieces left to go after someone else.
Except they also got Noc's non-expiring deal. So they get rid of an expiring contract for a solid piece and an albatross contract. IMHO its a lateral move for Philly, and an upgrade for Sac. Dalembert's better than Hawes, and since his contract is expiring they actually save some $$$ in the long run.
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=5368050&postcount=57 Philly saves a ton of money next season (in salary and luxury tax) with this trade, and they should be significantly below the salary cap in 2011-12 and well able to absorb Nocioni's extra year. Dalembert was disgruntled, wanted out and wasn't going to be back after next season anyway. So why keep him when they can get a much younger player in Hawes? And it's not like Philly is going to be fighting for home court in the playoffs. The trade works fairly well for both teams. (Also, keep in mind that Sacramento had to pay Dalembert's trade kicker, so this deal is costing them a bunch of money next year. Good thing they are so far under the cap.)
Sixers/Kings Trade Sixers agree to trade Dalembert to Kings for Nocioni and Hawes. http://twitter.com/chadfordinsider/status/16406140826 Looks like it might be a move for the upcoming draft. Sixers may be going after Favors instead of Turner with the 2nd pick. I hear the new 76ers coach is real high on Favors and that could be a clue of why they're going through with this trade. Kings get a legit rebounder and shotblocker. Landry and Dalembert on the frontcourt along with Evans and whoever they draft on the 24th could make them into a pretty good team quickly. Too bad this is happening cause I think we could've use a player like Dalembert who is making a lot of money but is on his last year of his contract. He could have been a get backup and someone to pair up next to Yao when we need to lock down. Kings go the better end of it I think.
SAC should of waited on the Kevin Martin trade but SAC wanted a big and they needed a big during that time. They surely would of receive a nice draft pick as well if they pulled the deal during draft night. SAC is going to be a good solid team within the next two years. Jason Thompson could be a beast if he puts the time in. He can rebound and he has range which is important at the PF position. He'll probably need to put on some more weight/muscle. He does has some fouling issues but I think Sammy D will help out in that department with his defense/blocking.
The move isn't as bad as others think. Hawes at this point is a bust and maybe Collins might have better luck with him. Most guys with size have a hard time utilizing their height especially when it comes to rebounding. Nocioni should receive some really good playing time under Collins.
The only way they're trading the #2 pick is if someone is willing to take Brand's contract. Although Turner might be the best NBA ready player in the draft, I can't see someone taking that contract on of Brand's. I still think he could produce a little, he's not worth the risk IMO. I wouldn't be surprise if Collins plays Brand at the 5 and Nocioni at the 4 during certain stretches of the game.
Another way the Sixers benefit in trading Dalembert is that the Sixers finally get their chance to start their young center, Marreese Speights, who everyone in Philly have been really high on. Plus they would also have Spencer Hawes as his back up, giving them a pretty nice front line... --RB
