I agree. I think it will end up hurting overall D in the league. My hope is that Yao begins to benefit from the no-calls that are going to be inevitable. It ironically might help him on both ends of the floor. I do, however, doubt it.
Wow, finally someone with some common sense. Great post. Why do you think NBA refs call flops in the first place? Because they can't tell the difference between legit contact and a flop most of the time. Is this that hard to understand? Allowing referees to issue technical fouls would **** up the game even more. This will only work, however, if 'serial floppers' get suspended. A fine alone won't do much.
Checking out the espn poll question of "should the NBA fine floppers," Utah, ironically enough, is 72% in favor of fining floppers right now. Those poor fools...do they not realize that's been their bread and butter for god knows how long?!
the NBA better have this "fines" **** as a temporary solution, cuz slapping fines will do jack****t....if they really want to end all the flopping BS, they need to impose technicals on players. It's such an easy solution, i dont know why they are so stupidd. ORRRR, they should somehow convince JVG to become a referee
Its more for those flopping ass international players. For some reason, the floppers from divac to manu are international guys. Scola flops too. Just like he flopped and gave up a layup in the playoffs.
i don't know. seems to me, for every flopper that is from foreign land, there is a home-made american one. don't think it has to do with where one comes from.
well, no. but what do you mean? are you saying proportionately america does not generate enough floppers? btw, flopping is nothing new. and it certainly did not start from vlade divac.
for every flop, it should count toward that technical count. like that new rule, if you have 17 techinicals, you get suspeneded, and every one after, you get suspened. so a flop may not give the team a free throw, but it will count as one. now, they should go and meet about how to call games with 1 minute left. call it close or call it loose.
I guess u never seen yao try to take a charge. Why would anyone that big try to take a charge is crazy to begin with. He flops. Scola does also. Its not just a generalized statement, but most of the floppers are internationals. Thats just a fact.
taking, or trying to take a charge does not equal and is not flop. many elite bigs, such as td, shaq etc. take charges from time to time. yao tried to take a charge for a while and it was a reaction to the ridiculous calls he was getting daily. it didn't work, and yao quit. and then the officiating got a little better this past season. same goes to battier and scola. taking a charge is NOT flop. and i highly doubt your "most floppers are internationals" assessment. most means at least > 50%, right? the burden of proof is yours.
IBM- Ive always said i respect ur opinion even if i dont agree with them. Im just saying that if u start listing the floppers, thee top guys are international. I dont know if its because they're trying to get a advantage for the lack of strength or what, but it just seems to work out that way. AK,manu, scola, dirk are all floppers big time.
Flopping is when you are pulling another guy's arm and then you make his arm push you and you fall....scola or battier never do stuff like that
