After thinking about this long and hard...I have changed my opinion on this vote. I want Shaq to leave. Duncan is the better player.

    See you Shaq daddy.

"Considering that he was doing all right for himself, (statistically, even better than Duncan is doing now) before Kobe matured, your statement about him "not winning a damn thing" is a bit of an exaggeration."

Tell me then why the stupid ****s on this board say "he has the rings, so he should win". Its total moronic idiocty.

because it is an important factor, regardless of whether his teammates are better or not, he does his job and leads his team to the title every year. Do you think people would worship MJ if he only won 1 or 2 championships and not 6? If we had this argument back in 1999, I have no doubt duncan fans would say, yes, shaq scores more points and gets more rebounds, but duncan has won a title. Well, now he scores more, rebounds more, blocks more, and wins more Finals MVPs. That equals him being the consensus "most dominant" player around. Maybe it is overhyped, but I don't think it is moronic idiocy unless the vast majority of basketball fans, writers, coaches, players, and executives who cite him as the most dominant player are moronic idiots.

I've seen all of these 4 guys play and the greatest most dominate big men of all time are:
    Chamberlain
    Jabbar
    Hakeem
    Shaq

Anyone who knows anything about basketball keeps these 4 over anybody else. Shaq has no equal in todays game. His size keeps him from getting the skill, quickness and game sense credit he so richly deserves. You start a new team and who do you pick as your very first pick if you could pick anyone........ SHAQ, if you picked anyone else in todays game your basketball IQ is ZERO.

    Duncan has to go

Not meaning to disagree with your premise that Shaq is more than a plow-driver, but that last sentence is wrong. There are people who know plenty about basketball who place Russell above those four, and many more who at least include him.

    Tough choice.

Tim Duncan spurned the Magic in 2000.

Shaq spurned the Magic in 1996.

Since I like Duncan's game better - and the Magic still have a slim, slim shot at signing him next year - I'll vote off Shaq.

Shaq contributes to the local economy. Duncan doesn't.

    Mr. Duncan, goodbye.

    Duncan.

I think TD is better right now...but Shaq is probably the 2nd best center of all time after Wilt.

    1. nobody said the playoffs were the sole determining factor. But if they are tied in both, then why not?

    2. type in "most dominant player"and "shaq" into an internet search engine and see how many hits you get. I don't like doing the Russell comparison bc it breaks down to Shaq's offense v. Russells defense. WHich is better? who knows. Jordan himself is 1-1 in playoff series vs. Shaq. His dominance is of different kind than Jordan, because it is sheer physical dominance, while Jordan's was more of a mental type game. I didn't say most dominant or unstoppable is synonomous with "better" or "greater" than Jordan.

    3. Statistically even this year, Duncan's best year is at best a wash with Shaq's worst season since his rookie year. Shaq scored slightly more, duncan rebounded slightly more, Shaq had a higher fg pct, duncan higher ft pct.

    4. I don't see the point in making the "crappy role players/supporting cast" excuse. Dance with girl that brung you. Is Shaq great because of Horry, and the rest or is Horry and the rest great because of Shaq. Would the spurs players be better with Shaq or worse? I don't know. I don't care. All I know is that Shaq did enough to beat them 9 out of the last 10 playoff games. Sometimes enough is not much, but who cares.

    5. Does anybody really fear Duncan the way they fear shaq? Does anybody say about young PFs in the draft "He will give them a big PF to match up with Duncan; the CLippers drafted those 2 PFS to try to find some way to match up with Duncan". But whenever an big man goes to a West team, its "another big body to thrw at shaq, etc".

There really is nothing else left for him to do. I doubt that if he won 3 more championships the anti-shaqqers would give him his due. But I don't think he really cares all that much.

I will not sit by and watch Spurs fans jock the Spurs and Duncan, the Rock's biggest rivals and mortal enemy.

Tim Duncan, keep that head low, keep the playoff loses coming, and get off the Island!

Francis and Ming will rule the land in years to come.
