Good heavens.
I honestly don't get why the lakers get such awesome local tv deals, even when they suck, all of their good games are on national tv.

Viewership. National TV games are not for the hardcore fan (like us) its geared towards the casual/ non fans. Those people want to see recognizable names, theatrics, story lines and highlight reel plays.

LOL at the Lakers & Knicks (lottery teams) playing so many TV games. As much as people get mad that the Rockets don't get respect it is the SPURS fans that get the raw deal. NBA Champions and they get a lot fewer games than big market stinkers.

I understand the viewership angle, it's just as a local tv network, you would think the side effect of their national viewing would eat at their revenue (or maybe it's just their deal is way too high), and LA is just overwhelmed by the casual fan.
You make a good point, but i am not well-versed enough in the business side of things to comment confidently. All I know is that the return of Kobe and Linsanity 3.0 is enough to grab the attention of even non-fans. It's a sad reality, but of course this a star-driven league.
