If it were completely up to me, I'd make a rule that NBA players should be able to make free throws at a 60% rate since middle school players can do this. What next? Do you make double teams illegal if the players left open can't make shots? Do you make fouling to stop the clock at the end of the game illegal? What about fouling when up 3? What about calling timeout right before a player goes to the line for clutch free throws? Should that be illegal too? They all have simple solutions. Hack-a-Whomever has a simple solution too.
Make the FT's, simple as that. I wouldn't change that rule. Reinstate hand check, offensive players have too much advantage off the dribble. I would change the charge rule also. No charges in the paint period. You can still have an offensive foul but running in front of a player and falling down is not defense.
At one time in the NBA, players used to get three foul shots to make two. Maybe intentional fouls should result in a player getting three chances to make two.
Technical foul to be shot by player of choice + retention of ball for any intentional foul away from the ball. I understand why it is done but I also understood the Four Corners. C'mon, Play Ball!
i didnt see this mentioned but this has been my idea: once a team is in the penalty, if they're fouled, its their option to shoot 2 FTs or inbound the ball. pretty simple IMO.
A foul is an infraction, it should only result in punishment with no chance of reward. If you make free throws, great thats a bonus for you. But even if you miss all your free throws, the other team should receive no benefit. That's why the fouled team needs to get another inbound. Using a foul to prevent a 3-point shot should not be allowed either. Same as above. Is there any other sport where you can use an infraction to your own benefit? The only thing that comes to mind is intentional walking in baseball. That's some lame **** there too. Intentional walk should be 2 bases.
