Pretty much anyone objective would put Lebron number 1. You know if you look at more than the last 5 games.
Yup he is pretty much No.1 if you don't count the -last 5 games of 2011 -last 2 games of 2010 -last game of 2009
Yeah it totally makes sense to ignore the 9 most important games of his career let's just ignore what Hakeem did in the playoffs and finals, cus that way David Robinson will be better
Dirk is actually way too low. Lebron might have the most talent, but dirk is by farrrrrr the better player, pound for pound.
guess ill chime in here. lebron at #1 is where he should be. i think of it like this. you look for assists at the pg position, rebounds at the pf/c position, and points at the sg/sf (this one is iffy). lebron does all of this for most of the game as one player, playing one position on the court. so when ranking players, given all that lebron does on the court, #1 is a pretty solid spot for him. those that say i'd pick him up in a fantasy game or that he's a stat padder... well that's understandable but you're taking away from what he does minutes 1 through 48 by saying that. if you rank a player by what he does in the 4th quarter or in the closing seconds of a game... or by rings... then robert horry would be #1. as for dirk.... well, im not terribly upset that he's at number 5, with cp3 ahead of him... simply for the reasons i listed about lebron. dirk has always been clutch, even before everyone was on his nuts this past season. people that branded him a choker after the golden state warriors debacle never really watched him play. he's always had that shot. but his D and rebounding is suspect. his passing is passable. overall, his impact is mainly just on putting the ball in the hoop. only good if you have the right pieces around him (dirk should be thanking tyson chandler for his ring) fin
So when he destroyed Boston this year and overcame them like Jordan overcame the Pistons by making HUGE 4th quarter shot after 4th quarter shot, those games weren't important? With everyone wanting Miami to fail, beating Boston and Chicago by SHUTTING DOWN the MVP and DOMINATING the Bulls with Wade playing like crap. Lebron is still brilliant. @htownrox1, the Mavs win 70 games with Lebron instead of Dirk.
So now, Lebron would have won if he only had dirk's cast? Gimme a break. Lebron has had a spectrum of casts and couldn't get it done.
See here's the thing...LBJ has all the talent needed to do that to ANY team. No one questions his game. But when the going gets tough, the greats turn their effort up to another level. LeBron seemed to have done the opposite in various situations, including the finals. I don't disagree with the ranking, and still think that Dirk is getting too much hype for one great year. But these rankings don't really appeal to real sports fans, because we don't watch sports for pure domination, but rather for those defining moments when a great player steps up during a crucial moment, with his back against the wall, or when his team mates show their fear. All I've ever heard from LBJ is "his triple double game", or how many assists he has. Where's his "flu game", or his "81". To quote the 2008 Olympics (lol), "It's not the triumph, but the struggle". I may be over sentimental in saying all of this, but if Stephen A Smith questions LeBron's mentality as a player, something is def amiss
The dude scored 20+ points straight to bring his team back from behind against Detroit. I mean that is as impressive as the 81 games AND it was in the playoffs against the ridiculous Detroit team. He dominates games. I mean look at how ****ty his teams were? If you look at it, it's kinda like looking at Jordan's teams when they couldn't get past the Pistons.
LOL at Lebron still has a bad supporting cast, **** I would never want to ever play on a team with Lebron, because it's never him to blame, it's his team mates
Well, how many games did the Cavs win this year? Uhh, I think it under 20 wins. How many did they win with Lebron? Uhh, I think it was over 60 games.
The sad thing is I've hated Lebron with a passion since he was a rookie. Back when he was the next greatest one and he led the worst team ever in Finals history to the NBA Finals in 2007 with Boobie Gibson as his number 2 guy. I absolutely hate the guy. But that doesn't stop him from being the best player in the NBA. Personally, I'm not a big Jordan fan but that doesn't stop me from saying Jordan is the best player of all time.
THey had a team with EVERYONE gunning for him. Their fourth and fifth best players were injured most of the season. And this on a team with no depth. Wade was injured at the start of the season. There was no chemistry initially. And yet they made the NBA Finals. This is killing me. I hate the Miami Heat and Lebron. And yet, I'm having to defend them.
