It's so stupid that we would have kept him if we would have won that last game. So his ability to coach came down to one game?! Something is wrong with that.

Honestly, I think Les just wanted to move on. The Game 7 loss just justified it in his mind. The "one game" (4 points, by the way) certainly would have saved JVG's job, but the differences were much more than that "one game".

Balance - we were 14th in offense, 3rd in defense.

Adelman's last team was his most balanced 12th and 13th - and won 44 games.

I think it was about 4 years that culminated in 1 game, and when that game is the most important one in those 4 years, could have been avoided, and turned out poorly...keep in mind, as close as we were that game in the end, we were getting beat for a majority of the series, including the majority of Game 7.

And then add in the fact that JVG is a defensive specialist, and the Jazz shot over 51% in Game 7...how can you make a valid argument to keep him? In regards to the Rockets, people need to seperate getting rid of JVG and getting Adelman. JVG had to go. I'm on the Adelman bandwagon, but understand why others wouldn't be. I can't understand why JVG should get another chance??

As far as the offensive/defensive playoff debate, I think there are too many metrics floating around Another thread has all 4 of the remaining teams ranking extremely highly in offensive efficiency. Efficiency, points per game, pace, FG%...which metric is right to use? Who knows...and if this thread was in the Rockets section, who CARES? Style 1 (JVG) didn't work.

Four years is enough time. We are no better off with Gundy then we were when he took over.

First round exit is a first round exit.

Balance is being good at both offense and defense.

Mediocrity is being good at neither or one.

we are what we are...a first round team.

now adelman is part of the solution but if we don't make player personnel changes than hiring adelman is useless. To get the most potential out of adelman we need to make certain moves.

we gave up 90 points a game in the playoffs.
weren't we 4th in point differential during the season?

looks like those 20 point victories against lesser opponents really gave us a big head.

    THIS IS RIDICULOUS.

How many of those coaches are as adament about defense as JVG (no one on this planet is).

Flip Saunders, known for his flex offense. They're a good defensive team because of what Larry Brown taught them. WE WILL BE A GOOD DEFENSIVE TEAM NEXT YEAR. Just this time we will have a coach who is capable to making ADJUSTMENTS on offense, and utilizing a bench on offense.

All of those coaches (except for Mike Brown, I don't know much about him, but hey they're getting over the hump 2 years in a row now  ) know how to build and utilize an offense; just look at all the bleepin adjustments Sloan made in the series versus us.

JVG displayed perfectly this year how he can not make brilliant adjustments, hell even common sense ones offensively, nor can he utilize a bench where there was potential.

    Balance reigns supreme ~ 14 seasons -- 14 playoffs...

Goodbye to boring JVG ball -- hello to creativity.

Yeah, I could have posted this in about 10 other threads.

he was going wether we won or not. Gundy had to know this long before, even though he pretended not to. The ugly losses were the icing on the cake of a prima donna coach. I like JVG, but those " i cant believe you just asked me a stupid question" look during interviews got really annoying.

And look where the Spurs are on that list. That's where the Rockets need to be. Are the Spurs a "Phoenix-like" uptempo team? No, but they "fast break" when they can (because they have the personnel) and because they can fast break they get EASY TRANSITION POINTS which then translates to better offensive efficiency.

San Antonio got lucky - they don't deserve to be there. Everyone knows Phoenix would have advanced if it were not for the suspension.

Yes, I said that initially, hence the "(because they have the personnel)" comment. ;)
