Portland did really well in the draft last year. With the #1 pick this year they are really getting loaded with cheap talent.
Hate Steve Paterson for his handling of Hakeem....

portland need randolph for at least another season or two. the deadweights on their team are miles and lafrentz.

miles is allegedly done as a player. if he retires he'll still get paid but his salary will come off the cap. that's not good for teams hoping to scavenge.

if miles does retire they'll be in less of a hurry to move randolph. without miles, udoka is a near definate re-sign, while outlaw very possible.

lafrentz could see time on floor now magliore is gone unless they re-sign outlaw.

oden would be a good fit in portland. it'll allow aldridge to play most if not all his minutes at PF instead of center.

    jack - rodriguez - dickau
    roy - jones - (draft)
    webster - (draft) - (draft)
    randolph - aldridge - lafrentz
    oden - przybilla - (draft)

Portland should trade aldridge. Could probably throw in lafrentz.

No way Portland trades Aldridge. He's their future. Randolph will go next.

A front line of Oden and Aldrige could dominate this league for years to come. Remeber when Orlando could have had Shaq and Chris Webber together and ended up trading the No.1 pick. This is that scenario ten years later. Here in Portland the Blazer fans are going crazy about that possiblities.

yeah so could curry and chandler. we'll see. first thing, oden isn't shaq and aldridge isn't webber. oden is probably can't miss as a future star, not so sure about aldridge even though he came on stronger before he had to shut it down.

that said, portland looks to be setup real nice. they have a lot of talent and don't have to have any of those guys be as shane would say, "super-duper" stars but they can roll out strong 5 man basketball. as an outsider i'd be more scared if they got durant but i'd be very excited if i were a portland fan too.

i know....it's pretty crazy that we are talking about an 18 year old and a 19 year old going 1/2. hell even the potential #3 guy is 19 too.

Patterson was a patsy for Charlie Thomas. The same as Morey for Les, and Chaney for Bush. Their job is to do the dirty work, and keep their bosses "above the fray."

Good for Portland...I think they deserve someone good...I also think Seattle will do well with Durant, but what about RL...

This is a summary of the history, where the numbers indicate the position before the lotto. It looks like the 5th slot is very popular, although in 1993 and prior the lotto was different as all the lottery teams had the same chance of winning.

    1st pick: 5 (5times), 3 (4times), 1 (3times), 2&6 (twice), 11 (once)
    2nd pick: 5 (5times), 1 (4times), 4 (3times), 2&8 (twice), 10 (once)
    3rd pick: 1 (5times), 2 (4times), 3,4 & 5 (2times), 7,8 & 13 (once)
