Sorry for the double post, but I did some searching around in my room and I found the book for NBA Live 2000. There was a button called the direct shoot button. When you combine it with another button, you would either lay it up, take a hook shot, or dunk it when you are near the basket. (this depends on the button pressed. #1 would do a layup, #2 hook, #3 a dunk.) Sounds like what I thought it was.

Whats with the slider things in the game? Does anyone change them around? I dont see how they can make much of a difference, i dont see why anyone changes them? Do they change them around because its too hard of a game or too easy or what?

both. If they feel the shots don't go in enough they alter the sliders so they do. If they feel the shots go in too easy they alter the sliders so they don't. Same with the other category sliders.

Useful to customize a game to how you feel it is fun.

If there is one thing I don't like, it's that there is a separate dunk botton this year. Can that be changed? If not, I'll get used to it.

When so they did adopt the madden system with sliders? can you tell me the categories of slider's out there and how well each works out? I know madden it was great, it really reflected in the playing.

    Excellent observation!

Not to make your dumb statement seem legitimate, but yes, I play basketball regularly.

To save people from the heartbreak I experienced in buying Live. If people care enough to research the game they're buying, then they deserve ESPN over Live.

Yes, I'M the narrow minded one here. That's right, Mr. "I'm going to assume you're fat and don't play sports". How narrow minded of me to buy both games, play them, and offer my advice to potential buyers.

    God I suck.

    Exactly.

The games change VERY little from year to year.

Hell, you could probably put NBA2K up against ESPN basketball and it would play virtually the same.

Same thing with Live. The games undergo massive changes once every several years.

Its plain and simple. If you want a game that you wont get tired off and play it all year long until the 05 version comes out get ESPN BASKETBALL. If you still think EA makes the best sports games, and thats all you play, then go for that. Thats how I was, until i finally opened my mind and played a different sport game that EA didnt put out. You'll see....EA is no longer puts out the best in sports games.
