Since most users here are ps2 users: I suggest you all also read the ratings/reviews for the 2 games on IGN. nba2k3 - 8.7 nba live 2003 - 8.7 bacteria
I've got the ps2 modem adapter and I have not stopped playing NBA LIVE since. This game is really fun! NBA 2K3 is more realistic and sims, but live is just addictively fun. Both games are good, just depends on what you like.
Cujo, can you tell me about the modem adapter? Is it worth it? 50 bucks? How does NBA live run on it? bacteria
so who's right on this calvin murphy thing? is the announcer listed on the back of the box? blockbuster doesn't have it yet so i don't know what to do.
Guys, I just posted that Calvin Murphy and his voice are not in the game. Of course I'm sure, I bought the game.
Bacteria, It is 39.99 and it works with dial up and broadband. Of course, broadband is the way to go. I have played about 12 games against other people online and it has no lag if you pick a player that has same connection speed. The adapter is kinda hard to find right now, but more should be released this month. I actually saw one today at a best buy. Also, check with Electronic Boutique. Hey, if u get it, let me know...I'll play u on line. I'm still learning the game, but it'll be fun against someone from Clutchcity...
To Bacteria and NBALive3 gamers, Maybe this is old news, but i just read from game forums that EA switched theyre sims/arcade buttons. If you switch to arcade and change the rules on, and set the fouls like sims, the game will be slower paced. The cpu will actually paly halfcourt offense, and blocks will actually stay in bounds. I was playing against Lakers, and Fisher called for a post play to Shaq. Hope this helps. Check the Operation sports and Nbalive forums.
can somebody tell me if the franchise mode is still the same? i mean, when you simulate games and you play about 7 years, some players have ratings of 67 but still get the statistics they got when they where 89. like shaq still got 34 point and 12 rebounds when his ratings are 69, and steve always got the same statistics when his ratings are 82 and when they are 95 they numbers are the same.they never chance. atleast in nba live2001 on the pc, is this still a problem? or do the rating have effect on the statistics?
To Cujo & Live Owners, Dude, Cujo, you're the man. Thanks so much for the info. My roommate(HoopGod13) as well as many others complained of the overclocked speed in gameplay. It was simply a bit too fast for the beginner. But, I took Cujo's advice and implemented it, and without a doubt, it seems to work well! Have anyone else tried to use this method? Let me know if you feel the difference as well.... To Cujo, Super thanks for the info for the network adapter. I definitely will look at what games are coming out and see if that 39.99 is a good addition. But hell yeah, if I get an adapter, then I will definitely play you online.... Arno_ed, I'm not too sure that happens, since I've never simulated so many years before. However, i'm playing franchise mode, and it works flawlessly. MVP Candidates, Stats central, all of it are great. The franchise was almost the deciding factor for me to pick Live over 2k3. What do you think? To everyone else, How are you enjoying Live 2003? Anyone played both 2k3 and live? bacteria
Ok, I rent both NBA2K3 and NBA Live 2003. I'm somewhat split between the 2, but I think I'm leaning slightly on Live. When Bacteria10 said they've improved, he wasn't kidding. Its almost a completely different game. Very smooth and fast paced. The freestyle thing is great. Graphics and nice. Animations seem nice. The blocking, to me, seems a lot better, as does the stealing. The only problem is that they slightly changed some buttons and I have to learn them. I keep pushing select for a pick, but instead call a timeout. The shots also seem really good. If Nachbar is open for three, he'll swish it. If he's getting doubled, airball. As for NBA2K3, it did indeed slow down the offense. I'm having trouble scoring, especially with the Yao I created. Which brings me to a good point. I created Yao and gave him super numbers. He was 7'6, 294lbs. I went to play against the Heat right after that with him matched up against Zo. 1st thing I noticed is that he only jumps about 3 inches off the ground. Its hard to shoot with him, and I did get stuffed a bunch. Even if I was open and got a shot, he didn't make it. (100fgs on all.) I think he started out 0/6 with me, all relatively easy shots. I will say my 1st game was exciting. I was down by 1 with 10 secs and I tried to beat my man....and failed. I forced a shot and lost. This was on the second level, I think pro. I will try the franchises on both a little later.
is your looking for a great sim bball game than nba2k3 is way better than live. if you like the arcade play, get live. nba2k3 is as real as it gets
After a bit more practice, I've decided that if I had to buy one, it would probably be NBA2K3. NBA Live is VERY fun, I think, but its not realistic. Well, at least not as much as 2K3. I've played 2 games under franchise, and both ended in REAL NBA scores. (like 96-86. Was under 10mins on pro, I think.) Just like its been mentioned, Live for fun, 2K3 for sim. BTW, I've got to give props to NBA Live for fixing the rebounding. IMO, it was horrible last year, but it is ver good this year. PS: I figured out how to play with my Ming. I get pretty good numbers out of him with a high FG%. Only problems I have are that Steve is shooting like 30% and the opposing PG is scoring 30.
i'm sorry, this bacteria guy is a marketer, don't listen to him and his crappy EA sports game. 2k3 will conquer Live no matter what he says. Don't deprive yourself and get 2k3.
Maybe i can get a better answer in this thread, i was wondering how well Live runs online, does it cost money and how well does it run on 56k?
I have just downloaded and played the demo of the PC version of Live 2003, and was extremely impressed. I don't have a PS2/X-Box so I can't compare the two, and Live is about the only option I have. That said I can't wait till the full game comes out. I don't think I have been this anxious to get a game before! P.S If you want some great info and stuff about, not only Live 2003 but the whole series 95-2003, check out this site: NBA Live Series Centre
