My god the stat nerds are ruining this game. If anything, the league should eliminate the 3-point line to bring back the fluid offenses of the 70s and 80s. Now it's just layup or kick to three.. so ****ing boring.

    much ado about nothing

NBA: No serious discussions about 4-point line
NEW YORK (AP) -- NBA players won't be pulling up for a 4-point shot anytime soon.

The league denied Tuesday that any serious discussions had been held about that or expanding the court.

ESPN.com reported that president of operations Rod Thorn and vice president Kiki Vandeweghe, during an interview at All-Star weekend, said the league had discussed both possibilities.

In a statement posted on Twitter, league spokesman Tim Frank says ''No one at the NBA, nor the competition committee, has had any serious conversations about increasing the size of the floor or adding a 4-point line.'' Frank adds ''Rod Thorn and Kiki Vandeweghe were entertaining a line of questioning about out of the box ideas and ESPN.com chose to make a story that doesn't exist.''

It's nvr gonna happen but if the league actually cared about being progressive and making a more competive and egalitarian league they would consider it heavily.

I think making half-court shots 4 points would have little impact but add more excitement. It would only be done in desperation situations (down by 6 with 15 seconds left) since it's pretty much a hail mary.

On the flip side, eliminating the 3 point line would make basketball really ugly. Could you imagine everyone just crowding into the paint? You thought layups were ugly, wait until you see 10 guys crowed into a small section of the court. It wouldn't look like basketball anymore.

While they're at it, make free throws worth 2 points each bucket but each Referee should be at the ripe ol minimum age of 90 to ref the game.

Gimmicks like these may be the way to make the ASG relatively exciting agree. Dunks count for 3. Alley - oops count for 4, there's a 4 point line from behind half court
    etc.

All shots anywhere on the court when the defensive player flops should be four point attempts
