I know it's easy to hate this Idea but if you think about it, it makes sense. It adds value to the game, spreads the floor, gives teams a chance at comebacks, increases the variance of underdogs winning, allows different skill sets a shot at make the roster, allows more smaller players in the league... which is good since there are more of them. Overall I see this making the league more egalitarian. I'm in favor.
Adam Silver should be fired for even entertaining this BS. A 4pter? Are the trying to turn NBA basketball into the globetrotters
I agree with your first clause, at least, not the rest of it. I wouldn't support this either, but I think it'd make more sense to talk about instituting a 1-point shot than a 4-point shot. Make points in the paint (or something similar) worth 1 point, and you can increase the relative value of the midrange game. There might also be less fighting in the post as defenses would shift focus from defending the low post to covering guys throughout the court.
That would be a nightmare for score keepers. Can you imagine how many times they'd have to stop the game to check if it was a 1 pointer or a 2 pointer?
Don't want to see this change. Too big a reward for essentially a fluke-type luck shot. I agree with those calling for widening the court. I'd like to see hand-checking brought back as well.
That might work but I feel there is zero chance that would happen. It changes a existing rule opposed to adding a new rule, which is easier. Not to mention it lacks all the benefits I mentioned earlier.
The anonymous rep hate thing has gotten out of hand. To the person that said this, what do you think I was saying? So many sensitive crybabies.
How about if you shoot with your off-hand or feet from the 3pt line, it's worth 4 points. Or how about an option where you can volunteer to play 4 vs 5 and if so, every basket you make is worth 1 more point.
Need to spend that time on figuring out to balance the power between the Eastern and Western conference more evenly.
