As for the 3 way tie, houston gets the tie break over portland but Portland gets the tie break over the Spurs and the spurs gets the tie break over the rockets lol...so in other words, i have no idea lol but regardless, i think Portland has a favorable schedule over us, so lets just hope we can tie portland at the end of the year since we have the tie break
I believe that it is winning percentage against each other. That would mean that we win the tiebreaker over the Blazers (2-1 in the season series) but we would be tied with the Spurs. Next tiebreaker is winning percentage against teams in division. Spurs are 9-6 and the Rockets are 8-6. I could see a tie happening here seeing how we have two more games (Hornets and Mavericks) and the Spurs have the Hornets one more time. After that it is conference record I believe, but I'm too lazy to look that up. I've probably messed up somewhere here, but this is my understanding the tiebreaks. Feel free to correct me.
I'm guessing they put SA first out of the 3 becuase they're the only one leading their division. If they didn't use that "division leader" tiebreak, Houston would be 3rd because the tiebreak would be combined record vs. the other teams in the 3 team tie. Houston and Portland are both 4-3 and SA is 3-5. The Rockets hold the tiebreak over Portland so they'd be 3rd. Portland holds the tiebreak over SA so they'd be 4th and SA would be 5th. I'm still not sure if they'll use the "division leader" tiebreak to determine playoff seeding.
good point, and the jazz seemingly have an easier final 4 games. @ San Antonio Golden State LA Clippers @ LA Lakers vs the mavs with: New Orleans @ New Orleans Minnesota Houston
I made a post earlier in this thread explaining why I think it's a longshot for Utah to finish 8th. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=4389110&postcount=27
LOL- Josh Howard's kneeling on the court bleeding out of his nose and both teams keep playing on. C'mon, Mavs, foul and stop the action at least!
HAHA I can't believe that everything, every game is going our way so far. Jazz are losing. Nuggets are losing. Hornets are losing. The Spurs lost. FUNNY!
i certainly agree with that assertion... which is why it's even more imperative that the mavs win tonight.
I really doubt the Nuggets will loseee......if they do, WOW thats shocking considering how good they been playing
A few games ago, I saw Paul strip the ball from Tim Duncan after a rebound. Just now, I saw him wait for Shaq to turn with the ball in the low post, take the brunt of the collision then strip the ball away. Chris Paul is tough (both physically and mentally).
At this point, you have to lock Utah in for a 3-1 finish because they will almost certainly win in San Antonio. I think the Mavs will have difficulty matching thattm even if they win tonight. Looks, like the Suns could melt down and blow their lead on the Hornets.
I think the first thing they're determining is division leaders. So San Antonio is still winning the division since overall record, head-to-head, and conference record are tied and they have a half-game edge in division record. So that right there gives San Antonio the tiebreak over Houston and Portland. That just leaves it between Houston and Portland for 4th and 5th. Since Houston won the head-to-head, we're in 4th and Portland's in 5th.
CP has really balled the last couple of weeks, playing like an MVP. Less flopping & exaggeration, absorbing more contact, less whining and more production. I wish he would display this persona and toughness the entire season and drop most of the tired act I can't stand. I wonder if Byron Scott sat him down and had a long talk.
3 team tie breaks are decided by cumulative record then conference record. Rockets are 4-3 Blazers are 4-3 Spurs are 3-5 The Rockets however have a better conference record than the Blazers, so the order would be Rockets, Blazers, Spurs. However, the Rockets and Spurs would be the only 2 teams up for the Southwest division crown. Right now the Spurs have the tie break, but that could certainly change. So the Spurs are the division winner. They definitely get a top 4 seed, and under the "division leader" rule they go to the front of the line. Hence the Spurs, Rockets, Blazers order in the standings. This makes a bit of sense, because it would be crazy if the Spurs won the division and the Rockets had a higher seed than them. I'm pretty sure someone will explain this in a bit more detail tomorrow.
That much I certainly agree with. He definitely flops too much for a player that doesn't really need to. I'm guessing the desperation and frustration is causing him to be a little more serious down the stretch.
The spurs should give their playoff spot to the suns. That will be good for both teams and fans. The spurs can keep their lottery pick in that situation, shaq can keep his record, and we can watch a better 1st round playoff match.
Wow. This is shaping up to be a solid off night for the Rockets. Spurs and Hornets both lose. The Jazz and Nuggets are also both down.
