A 5-time NBA champion, an NBA Dunk Contest champion and a Hall of Famer? That's pretty good company
If I was him, I'd pick ring over "legacy" any day. You already have multiple scoring titles. You already have an MVP. You've achieved the pinnacle of individual awards - all that's left is a ring.
If he was a role player i get it. But as a number one guy, I would imagine it's not the same. It would be like bulding a company up as a CEO, then leaving to join your competition, only to take a smaller role and try not eff it up. He wouldn't be contributing anything special. Doesn't seem very rewarding.
I get it but still smells of a young hot girl marrying an old-fat-bald-rich guy. KD is the "girl" in this scenario.
Everybody thinks Harden picked up his bad habits due to his undisciplined reign in Houston but he picked it up his "Hero Ball" ways playing and observing Westbrook and Durant play. I'm not sure Durant will be able to get over the Warrior's hump with his "Hero Ball" game either.
The only hope are the Spurs. In my opinion, this year's San Antonio squad is even better than their squad that won in 2014. We have 2 dominant teams in the same season(that's a rarity, Lakers vs Celtics of the 80's).
Durant should go to the Blazers. Blazers without Durant can already beat the Warriors by 30. Blazers + Durant would be legit contenders.
This would be like if Karl Malone went and joined the Bulls just to get a ring. Rings, in itself, have no real meaning - only what they represent. One of Hakeem's rings is worth a thousand times more than Gary Payton's ring (do you even remember that GP has a ring?). And KD joining the Warriors isn't even like what Lebron, Wade, and Bosh did. At least those guys joined forces to create an unknown in order to pursue a goal. For KD, he can literally not play a single game for Golden State, and just have his name on the roster come June.
Durant's a smart guy. He's looking at coaching that will incorporate superior ball movement. He's not gonna want to come to Houston.
The Spurs have a chance, but a long shot i may say. Curry is just playing like a man possessed this season, and their role players are peaking in unison like crazy. You might as well punt your season if guys like Speights are hitting from down town and Livingston are reigning in the post against other teams backup PG.
The spurs have had the easiest schedule in the league. Against he cavs, warriors, and Okc they are 1-3.
