Man, we could sure use Douglas' offense right now. His defense has also been spectacular on CP3 tonight.
I miss Douglas more than anything, I never cared for Patterson. Cole and Douglas were expiring, we got Beverly and Brooks, and Patterson is likely going to be overpaid next year. I can see why the move was made, but it definitely hurt chemistry in the short term.
All of a sudden the most maligned players on the Rockets, Pat, Toney, and Cole are the players fans miss the most?
Yup with the players they got from us, all together have been providing around 30 or more points, while T-Rob gives us 10 or less -it's what it is.
I wouldn't miss them as much had they been traded for someone actually useful. Aldrich is irrelevant since he wasn't a regular rotation guy, but Pat and Toney played pretty important roles for the team. Trading them leaving the team with only rookies to take up their minutes is not helpful.
Pat and Toney were traded because they were too good, taking away too many minutes from the rookies that Morey wanted to develop into assets. So Morey forced McHale to go deeper into the lineup by trading away most of the bench. Cole sucks. It was a gamble, that in hindsight wasn't worth it .... the team is losing because of it.
