But see right there, something that statistic fail to show is that Dirk was battling a high fever, he was at 75% and that's being generous. For him to even show up in the 4 qtr. was that extra gear superstars have at their disposal. Not to mention he led all players with 11 boards.

For me, it came down to LeBron talking a big game, and it was what it was. Talk.

I saw the attack mode... for about 5 minutes in the 1st quarter...

well we have to agree to disagree. nevertheless, this was one of the most exciting playoffs in general, and finals in recent memories

let's hope the lockout doesn't last too long.

the next basketball discussions will take place when the rockets are drafting

There will only be one Michael Jordan, Dirk played pretty damn well for the fever he was carrying.

Dirk was the highest scorer in quarter 3 of game 6 wasn't he? (8 pts)

Stats also don't tell you a lot of things the eye sees, at least unless you're using your own stats, basketball isn't a single player game, things like amount of time doubled make a great impact (The amount and impact of double coverage has been mentioned by coaches before, so I can be certain that the teams themselves track it), both on your effectiveness as well as your now open teammates.

very true. you have to judge a player by their ENTIRE game, not just quarter 1 or quarter 4. obviously the 4th quarter/crunch time is more magnified, but what you do in quarters 1-3 determines whether you are in position to compete in the 4th. you also look at their workload, and their responsibilities on both ends, and how they perform with that.

i thought wade was the only player from both sides in the series to play well in every game (outside of the 2nd half in game 6) on BOTH ends.

sure he wasn't doubled much like lebron was, but neither was dirk. both had similar single coverage. dirk was the more clutch performer, but wade wasn't a slouch; he took the heat home in game 1 and 3, and nearly did again in games 4 and 5. just that dirk had terry step up in the clutch also, and lebron choked.

Coaches will be drooling thinking of the possibility of coaching the Heat. They will believe that they are the one who can coach this team (true or not. delusion is a constant companion at times like these). Heck, I think Adelman would do a terrific job, given the chance. I doubt that we'll end up seeing him on the Heat bench next season, however.

Lebron wasn't getting actively doubled as much as he was getting zoned and had nfi how to not run himself into a double team (which is what a zone does to someone who has nfi how to deal with it).

Lebron's entire offense consists of take the ball at the top of the circle and try to drive thru everyone, mike brown style, you do that against a zone and you're going to hit a double team, every single time.

Wade on the other hand, is a much better off the ball player so exploited holes in the zone and hence played a lot better.

It's pretty clear that Dallas were giving up extra points to Wade in order to have Lebron under performing and doubting himself, as I'm sure we're all aware that getting inside Lebron's head is far easier than Wade's.

Miami on the other hand ran hard man to man 48/6 and had double coverage on Dirk almost every time he got under the foul line (I'm sure Miami had in there that if you double him too far up the court it just creates free points for others).

Ric Bucher: Start of 4Q, Udonis + Juwan stood facing each other in huddle. Juwan: "You gotta believe!" Udonis: "C'mon!" Huddle remained strangely quiet

They were already defeated. Just so odd, where was the heart and passion? The original big 3 (KG, Allen, Pierce) in their first season together had that fire. and of course this Mavs teams had it.

    SacTown bet $100?

Well ASSUMING that wasn't a joke-bet in the first place, I'm sure he's already in for the night. Only the HATERS are scared to go to sleep on this night, because they know what they have to wake up to tomorrow (REALITY).

I think this is the first "one superstar" team since Hakeem's Rockets to win the title, no?

Perhaps. You can argue that Detroit was a zero superstar team (though a couple of All-Stars in Big Ben/Billups).

BUT this Dallas team does have a couple of former All-Stars (Kidd, Marion) and while they are not at All-Star form, they were still key contributors to this title.
