Gotta love the media!!! Plays two summer league games and all those bums who said he would suck are now declaring him as ROY runner up to our gem. Guy averaged 25 and 13 in college and even better in the tournament (and is 7’4”) so was not that difficult to figure he’d be a decent NBA player….but the media always follows the narrative and the narrative was that he sucked. Memphis got a steal!!!
If he plays well he will get burn and if he doesnt he wont. I think a fair amount of fans have put the cart before the horse.
Why's it weird? he was the 3rd pick in the draft and a lot of people (at least that i listen to) had him 1 or 2. The 1st and 2nd picks played like trash in summer league while reed was good, wouldn't he be the most likely person to pick?
Id be more confident of him getting it if he was drafted to the Wizards for example. But it's hard to get roy on a deep team that is trying to make the playoffs. But hey if he can do it on this team then we got our selves our future starting pg for a long time.
If he turns out to be as great as you think he is, I'll finally forgive you for getting me all hyped up about Marcus Morris. Maybe.
I'm just relieved to see the fanbase has learned its lesson about putting unnecessary pressure on 20-year-old kids.
I think Reed has too much competition on the team to be ROY. He won't be a starter and more than likely won't be the 6th man either. He will be lucky to average 10ppg a game. That's not to say he won't have great games where he shows his talent just that the competition for minutes is far too great. Good situation for the Rockets. Starters - Sengun, Jabari, Brooks, Fred, Jalen 2nd Unit - Landale/Adams, Tari, Cam, Amen, Reed Cheer squad - Uncle Jeff Damn the Rockets are deep in young talent.
I gave you Alperen Sengun. I told you Fred van vleet would add 10 wins alone. I banished @YOLO to the shadow realm by calling over 40 wins last year. I told you Jalen would be Zach Lavine at best and that I would take Suggs(and obviously Mobley) over him. That was iffy after their rookie year but for any team looking to win basketball games it is obvious now. That’s just a small taste of what a basketball savant is capable of deciphering. Reed Sheppard may or may not be ROY and it really isn’t important. He isn’t going to play less than 20 mpg and will be a positive contributor from day 1. Long term he has potential to be the engine and best player on the entire team.
I’ll bet anyone willing that Reed will not play a single minute in the g league. If he plays 1 minute then ban me. If he does not then you are banned. Any takers? @coachbadlee? @Verbal Christ? @ApacheWarrior? lets rid this place of some more vermin

What about the last two games? Did he dominate those? Plus Edey put up NBA league MVP type numbers. If Edey would have played the entirety of summer league those NBA exec clowns wouldn't have even mentioned this nonsense and we would not be talking about it.
You should ban yourself for even thinking of this. If Reed does not play a single minute in the G then he will not be getting the PT that he needs in his rookie season. Is that what you want for him? You want him to sit on the bench and pass out towels for the majority of the season?
