I completely agree. He's not going to get Starters minutes so if they are voting just on efficiency, maybe he gets the nod but he'll be lucky to get 18 mpg while most of the other rookies will be getting closer to 30.
how did zack eddie become one of the favorites for roy when a just over a month ago experts were saying late 1st rd or early 2nd?
Edey is in the perfect situation. He will be the starter on a stacked team. Ja will create the offense, Bane will hit open shots, JJJ will do everything including helping out on defense if Edey gets exposed after switches. There is a good possibility Edey will average close to a double double with good efficiency and 2-3 stocks. That's roty numbers, especially in a weak draft class. For Reed the path to ROTY is a lot harder. He will play behind FVV and Green, both will most probable average at least 30 minutes a game. And off the bench he will compete for minutes with Amen und Cam. It is very possible, that Reed spends time in the G-League and ends up averaging <15 minutes. And then, he won't be the first option and probably not the second option for that time. It's hard to win roty in that environment. So winning roty doesn't mean you were the best rookie. It just means, you were doing the most.
Those guys were banking on injuries to FVV, Amen and Cam and JG out of the starters a bit, not doing that right now.
I don't really think Reed has a chance to win it. Our team is just too good. ROY comes down to role more than actual talent sometimes. My money would be on someone from a tanking team like Castle, Buzelis, or Holland. Someone who'll get 30 mins a night all year and average close to 20 ppg on horrible efficiency.
NBA execs yet again trying to bully the Rockets into not sending Reed to the G-league which is where he needs to be in order to get adequate PT. I would bet that Reeds parents probably have something to do with this.
The only way Reed is not sent down is if there are multiple trades and or injuries. Jalen, KPJ, and Cam all spent time in G-league. They don’t have enough minutes to go around unless Reed just absolutely blows up in pre-season, which I doubt he will get enough minutes to do.
He's going to start the season as the primary backup PG.... you might as well make your peace with that.
There's simply not a better option at the backup PG spot... so I'm not sure what the basis of your doubt would be.
My thought too. I take this to be that the execs think the Taxman has the most upside and chance of making a big impact. Remains to be seen. He has to get PT to do it.
No - not anymore, Reedrick Von Sheppard has already been named the 2024-2025 KIA MVP of the NBA winner.
Zac Edey played four years of college basketball and is like 3 years older than most of the players in the draft. Also - Edey is going to a veteran team that needs a center, so Edey will get plenty of playing time. Edey will be on a winner team. So there is a good chance that he will win ROY. He is a good player, but in 5 years there will likely be a handful of players or more better than Edey.
