Give me Udoh. He may not have superstar talent, but he knows how to play. In terms of highlight reels, that Babbitt kid looks amazing.
I was digging his highlight reels too...until I remembered: Another white, athletic 6-9 forward who rose in the draft because he was white AND athletic. In all honesty, I really hope Babbitt is the real deal.
I'm not comparing their games at all, but how would you characterize the career of Steve Francis? Great stats at the beginning, a few all star appearances, not much intangibles or winning, then fell off and had a terrible end to his career. That's the overall level of achievement I foresee for John Wall.
I'm starting to change my mind about Udoh. I liked his soft touch around the basket before, but I think he is more skillful on the offensive end then I thought. His shot blocking is fair, he is likely to be a below the rim player as a pro and he needs to get stronger, but I think he might be able to compensate to a certain extent because of his smarts. He might drop because he is older than the rest, possibly more than his listed age of 23. For a 14th pick,he seems good enough.
You know who was the last major prospect that kept being rumored to Houston? Brandon Roy Morey's not stupid enough to make the same mistake again. Rockets fans should like Alexander. If it weren't for him, it's unlikley CBud drops far enough for Morey to go WTF!? and buy him from the Pistons.
and??? Of all these the only one with some upside to do anything in this league looks like Hassan Whiteside. The rest are role players.
James Anderson got some copycat moves of Michael Jordan. He should be the #1 pick if he's 50% as good as MJ.
Eric Bledsoe, Patterson, Whiteside or Babbit would be my pick... at the very least we will get a potentially special player
Whiteside is going to be sitting on his duff underneath the net, getting his head bonked by the ball as it is slammed through by legit NBA big men, after they posted his skinny ... up and knocked him on his lil skinny runt ... under the net.
How many legit NBA big men with post game are there again? How many of them either play power forward, a position Whiteside seems like he can transition to when his strength is an issue at center, or play on the 2nd unit, where Whiteside will probably begin his rookie year?
At 14, i'll be glad if we pick up one of the following: Paul "King" George, Xavier "X" Henry, Patrick Patterson or Ekpe Udoh. Will be amazing draft if we move up. Will be dispointing if we move back, however it would be the most intelligent thing to do because between 13 and 20 anyone can get drafted.
Whiteside needs to hit the weight room badly, I don't see him getting any playing time at all his first year.
Paul George or James Anderson amongst those listed please We need to find a way to select Ryan Richards as well
