When do teams actually draft their players? Date-wise?

I agree that athletic bigs are also likely to fail and I probably should have said that in my post. While it's true that stiffs and athletic headcases are both likely to be busts, you do have cases of guys like Amare Stoudamire (who isn't particularly crafty or bright in a bball IQ sense) succeeding as all-stars, while the best "stiff" type players wind up on Jamaal Magloire and Brad Miller's level, which is good but not #1 pick good. Having both the skills/brains and the athletic ability is usually the only way these guys succeed unless they're a freak of nature like Stoudamire or early Shawn Kemp. When you are lacking though, it shows. I doubt Bogut could turn into a total bust, mainly due to his skills. At the same time though, I can never see him playing in an all-star game unless it's as the token backup center like Magloire and Ilgauskas.

I can really see Portland trading this pick if they don't see a player they like...especially to a team like the Lakers.

As for Bogut, I at first thought he'd be a stiff then I thought well maybe he'll be the next Rony Seikaly like someone had said....which isn't a bad thing considering today's NBA. Big men that produce are rare and big men that produce well are even rarer. But then again....

    I have just realized................you are 100% correct.

Very off-topic but I had to direct some attention to this subject but it is something amazingly true that I hadn't noticed all this time. I knew he sounded like somebody!
