1-1 tonight...Memphis had no business covering, but I'll take it. I'm already on San Antonio -6.5 (bought half a point for insurance) and Indiana/NY over 179.5 for tomorrow.
Noticed you've been buying half a point on a bunch of your picks... do you think it's worth it? How often does it come into play? I'm more familiar with this strategy with NFL than NBA...
It's not something I do regularly, but I just noticed that some of these games in the playoffs ended up being closer than I thought. I felt the extra security when sweating out these games at the end was worth it. The juice does go from -110 to -120 though. I don't think its really come into play yet and I don't have any stats on how frequently it does, but I thought it would be best to take advantage of the opportunity just in case. For example, the Spurs only have to win by 7 tomorrow to cover instead of 8 since I bought half a point to bring it down to 6.5. In a sense I'm getting 1.5 points, because I don't need the Spurs to win by 8 and San Antonio defeating the Warriors by 7 would be a win instead of a push.
i see the spurs taking over tonight too. indy/ny game....i have a feeling carmelo is going to come out strong so the points should be up from last game. He's known to have really good games after "drama".
Thanks for the explanation. I've heard it's not a great strategy in the regular season, but your reasoning for the playoffs makes sense. I don't know where you're playing, but -110 to -120 is pretty standard. If you're getting -105, they might be shading the lines...
Yeah, I stayed away from the spread for that NY/Indy game because I think it could go either way. Gun to my head I would say the Pacers win a close one, but Knicks cover. I'm just hoping for a better offensive performance from both times and a relatively high scoring game. Edit: I forgot to ask what you guys are all on for tonight?
Does anyone think Chicago is going to cover tonight? I'm in vegas thinking about placing a bet on that game for Miami to cover. Miami 14 point favorite.
Nice hits...1-1 for me again last night, smh. I don't know man. I'm struggling with this one myself at the moment, but I'm leaning towards Miami covering. I also want to say OKC covers, but 4 points or so is a lot for this team in my opinion. What is everybody else on tonight?
Called the last 4. Miami -14 OKC -4.5 Really? I'm not familiar with the lingo, but you said "warrior over, pacer under." Isn't that wrong?
Pretty sure he meant the over in the Wariors game and the under in the Pacers game... not the over/under for each team...
I'm also on Miami -14.5 and OKC -4.5 Edit: Shouldn't have bet against Z-Bo. I knew I would cool down sooner or later. 0-2 tonight and 31-14-1 in the post-season. The luck always balances out as KD had his worst shooting performance of the season in game 5 as did the entire Bulls team in game 4. Usually I take a break if I lose two in one night because of the tendency to chase, but it's the playoffs and opportunities are limited. I'm on the Knicks -4.5 and the Warriors +1 for tomorrow.
