Very dark indeed. There is a big risk with this surgical process. If it fails,it's over.
Yao should have been rehabbing since he got injured, they did put his foot into the boot. Why did he not take any further steps towards it? Did he remove the boot on his own after the pain subsided,or did someone tell him it was ok to do so? Nevertheless,it came as a shock to the doctors as well as him, since he was expected to recover in 8-12 weeks.

Anyone else immediately know it was a Blinebury column when they read the first line? :)

And no matter how well Yao plays next Spring (or in the playoffs), it's only a matter of time before he re-injures his foot. It's inevitable.

It's a very good question that even the orthopedic surgeons aren't sure about.
They have probably determined that it cannot heal by non-surgical means, hence the need for a more complicated procedure.

That's why I'm in favor of beginning the rebuilding process.

    1) Who honestly gives a giant rat's posterior if he makes the stupid All Star game next year....,omg...some of the crap people around here choose to value drives me nuts.

    2) check the numbers....it isnt china that has gotten him named to that stupid AS team...its been ballots in the arenas and domestic votes.

The funniest part about the ASG next year is that Andrew Bynum will be the starting center, regardless of his performance.

He didn't have surgery after the Lakers series since it was a stress fracture, now it has gotten far worse. The injury that he has is on the same foot where he had surgery previously.

When did Yao genetically prone to injury? He played more games his first 3 seasons?

Remember when Yao Ming was a fantasy league stud? 90% FT, 80+/games played. He was one of the most reliable fantasy players because of his FT% and his health. He rocked in 03-04 and 04-05. Then, he became fantasy kryptonite.

    Seasons/Games Played
    2002-03 82
    2003-04 82
    2004-05 80(Clanton starts)
    2005-06 57
    2006-07 48
    2007-08 55
2008-09 77(Foot Surgery, Yao will be out most of 2009-2010)

Very good news, well, probably better news than most of us feared.

Now, will people stop making threads about tanking the next season? Lets get artest back, get the center we need (looks like gortat is it), and trade Tracy for a shooter. We will be a winning team without yao, and will make the playoffs. And in the playoffs, I feel sorry for who has to play us.

    Let's do this!

Add me in. Its only a matter of time after and when he comes back that he goes down again. Not even that, but you gotta hope the surgery and rehab are successful.
