It doesn't really surprise me. Soccer and basketball are very similar games.

    In the video he says:

"The Dream shake was a soccer move"

For a second I thought he said it was a "sucker move," which would have been just as accurate. :D

Dream at the SF position......now that is a scary thought!

He could probably play that position in todays league better than most...

Dream Shake best move ever, it was also the best move as voted on a Sports Illustrated poll one year. :)

I love Dream & would probably cry if he were ever to grace my presence.

I would've mugged him at Game 7 if I had sat in the seats I had sat in before. Instead, I was across the freaking court! I loved LOVED LOVED the ovation he got!

    The man is my hero.

How people would DO the Dream Shake™ when playing ball?

I honestly used to practice the turn around from Dream's fave spot. TO the left & right. Anytime I would post up someone my height, I'd be down the block & throw the shake at em.

    Best Dream Shake™ Memory ever:
This guy was talking smack like he was better than me at ball. So everyone LITERALLY stopped the 5v5 game we were playing so we could go 1v1. I won, but the best part was JUST like Dream described it, you do the move & you look at your opponent instead of focusing on the shot. My opponent was 2 body lengths away. I hit the shot.

Most of the times, I got faked out of my shoes when somebody pumpfaked me, but now I've learnt to stay on the ground and stretch my arms as high as possible. Also, now I'm the one who's faking people up. it's just so funny to see people rising to contest your shot when you've twisted to the other side and fired it in.

Man, Yao can be as good as Dream for the next 5 years if he just plays with Dreams aggressiveness all the time. great videos.

where has Hakeem walking in the end with the strett with all those trees? looked nice.

    UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Great, great work. Wonderful clips of both players. Don't think I didn't notice how many of Dream's were from early in his career with the Rocks. Dominant by the end of his second year. Totally. And if Yao can stay healthy, he will dominate this coming season. There simply isn't the competition at his position Dream had, and the Yao playing at his best would be awesome back in the day, as well. He deserves whatever props he gets. Yao works his butt off. If only he didn't have so many obligations! :(

Dream? In a class by himself.

Dream dominated the center position with the likes of Ewing and Robinson. Those are two of probally the best 20 players in NBA history, and Dream was better. I forgot how aggressive he was around the rim. Yao shows flashes of that, but the difference in body contol is stunning. Yao just isn't as good as Dream. I love Yao though, and he is the best C in the league now, but I would still take Dream over any center to ever play the game.

soccer and basketball are SIMILAR, mostly in defense and footwork really. they are analagous in the same way lacrosse, hockey, soccer, and even elements of football: positioning in relation to opponents, the ball, and the goal. this is not a basketball to soccer correlation, its a trend through most team sports. i do understand that you are not saying they are the same game, only comprable in the skills that make great players.

i guess it is obvious that dream's stellar footwork came from soccer, esp since he was a late bball bloomer. still amazes me, though

This is sort of given for now. Let's wait and see for the years to come. I wonder how good Dream would have been under JVG system.

I never noticed it before, but Dream actually travels on the Robinson triple deke. He lifts his foot enough to be called traveling. It was the same type of call they made on Bryant when he exploded with 13mins left in the game.
