Every time i read something about AI coming to Houston, i ask myself, even if we wanted him, why would he want us...we're not contenders, we may not even be a playoff team, he's not going to get a ring with us and hardly even get a shot....then i realize he signed with the Memphisfreakingrizzlies. They were'nt and aren't going anywhere either. you could argue they're the only ones who wanted AI, but if he really wanted to play for a contender and win, he could have waited it out a bit longer.

So that should tell everyone he's not interested in winning and building something here. He wants to get his. His minutes, his points, his starting spot. WE DONT NEED A PLAYER LIKE THAT.

    thanx ;)

You must think we are contending for a championship this season?
The fact is we are not. We are just playing young guys and trying to groom them into well developed weapons for next year when we can add Yao and someone else to contend.

Yes RA is a great coach and can deal with headcases (Artest), but we didn't sign Artest because we knew It wasn't worth the trouble since we weren't contending.

This season is not about winning at all costs. It's about winning with the young guys we have and developing them along the way. (Notice Brent Barry isn't here anymore).

I can understand your wanting to do whatever it takes to win though.

I'd rather lose all our games than have AI on our team.

Wow..Brandon Jennings played a good month of basketball, erupted 1 game and already considered better then Brooks.

Aaron Brooks did it in the Damm playoffs against the eventual champs.
In Rondo's case, take out Rondo and put in AB. The open looks he would get there with the big 3..

    The writer rlly is clueless...

I think you should take off your homer-glasses for a sec. The only skills that Brooks trump Rondo in without debate is 3 point shooting and free throw shooting.

I'd take Rondo's passing abilities over Brooks' and Rondo's defense is far superior as well.

Tack that on the fact that Rondo's also taller (i.e. not going to get blocked as frequently as Brooks), it's not even a comparison.

Morey is smart enough to not even sniff the idea of getting Iverson.

Nobody wants an aging scorer who needed 25 shots to get 20 points and who is subpar on defense and in passing the ball. The one team that COULD use him - Philly - even only offered a non-guaranteed deal. That speaks volumes, my friends.

Agree. Some fans here keep overrating AB. They only care about shooting and scoring and dunking, like sports center does.

AB on the Celtics = A poor man's Eddie House

Or let me put it this way. If outside shooting is so important that AB is a better player than Rondo, then House is a better player than AB.

    I don't want him, but...

All you guys that think tanking is such a horrible idea, I think you should be clamoring for AI. How good can we be, as is? Fifth seed? If you have such a hard-on to see how good we can be, just for the fun of watching, I'd think you'd want to take a chance on AI, since he represents a real possibility of making us a notch better. I say, with AI, best-case scenario, maybe we could be third seed - though I think the odds are good that we'd have to cut him loose in a month. Think about it, though - we took a flyer on Artest for a year... why not AI?

We took Artest for a year because with healthy Yao and Tmac, Rockets had a good chance competing for Championship.

But this year? There is no chance for that no matter how many AIs you take.

Brooks is shooting at a solid 40% FG. Iverson is shooting at at 36-38% and taking 28 shots a game. AI won't bring a couple of wins, he'll bring several losses.

Although he is with All-Stars, Rondo does a better job of running his team than Brooks ever has and is definitely more consistent at the position. Is he a better shooter? No, but I would take Rondo's defense, ability to penetrate and assists/rebounding over Brooks any day.
