I am telling you and take this as my opinion but I've read enough articles that say only James, Wade and possibly Bosh will get Max deals but not Johnson, Gay or Amare. I could see Morey gambling that Johnson doesn't get a Max deal and moves enough pieces either at the deadline or in the offseason to make a run at JJ for about 12-13 million a year.

Most people suspected the T-Mac might just expire, but there wasn't any rumors about renouncing Lowry and chuckwagon. I wonder if Scola is gone too.

It surprises me that he would go with Dorsey and Andersen at PF/C over Hayes.

Well 7 million free cash with everyone back then subtracting Lowry's 3 million and Hayes 3 million then its at 13 million so I think we might need to trim 3 million more considering the Max deal will be lower next season.

So we can offer a max contract?.. I thought we'd just have around 7mill if we didn't resign scola and lowry

Pardon my ignorance  but Scola, Lowry, Chuck, or Scola in place of Chuck? I assume the first of Scola, Lowry, Chuck.

Hmm, very tempting. Nice to have the potential space for a potential star-superstar, though at the same time, no guarentees of getting any of them, and if you don't, well then you're kinda screwed, no?

Houston seemed dead set on trading Tracy McGrady from the get go, never showed any intention of anything besides that. This is the first report we've heard of all season that Houston may be considering keeping him.

Letting him expire has always been an option, but this is posturing.

Right now GMs are using the media to play the game.

I seriously doubt Morey is gonna renounce Lowry/Scola/Hayes and trade Battier for cap space just to sit and HOPE they get a great player to sign....

This is probably more to ramp up McGrady's trade value. If teams think the Rockets will just let him expire, he's worth more than if they think the Rockets are desperate to trade him.

from what desi posted, no one on the rockets has confirmed renouncing lowry and hayes is being considered. Looks like Broussard was just giving some info, saying that if they wanted to sign a big name they'd have to renounce them.

Morey has never come out and specifically said they may just keep him and let him expire, at least i dont think he has....but im sure he did say not trading him was an option/possibility, even after Tmac requested a trade, which pretty much means they'd let him expire. He's also said they have the option to pursue a special player via trade (invlolving tmac) or during the summerr (after letting tmac expire) and that ideally they'd try to do it via trade.

He should, role players are pointless without star players.

i think a better way to say it tmac's value remains the same, but the difference is houston doesnt seem so desperate to trade him that they'll consider throwing in other players.

Highly unlikely. I find it very hard to believe that Joe signs for 12-13 mill. I live right outside Atlanta and have attended a lot of their games. They love him and he loves them. It's going to take more than 12 or 13 to pry him away from Atlanta. That being said, I would be ecstatic if he came to Houston.

My mistake then, thanks for pointing that out. :)

Broussard did go on to say that if a player (like Lebron, Wade, etc) were to sign with another team, he would be walking away from potentially $30 million.

    Free agency is a gamble.
