I have always gotten the impression when he passes the ball mid court
and runs to a corner, he is following team instructions.

Cos surely, if the coaching staff thought otherwise, Lin would be informed
    not to do so.

And from my observations, Lin is a 'good' boy. ie. does what he is told.

Hence, the non-histrionics from him being subbed out, being benched,
being etc etc.... The alternative behaviour to this would be like what
Asik is trying to do, ask for a transfer, sulk, being 'not ready to play'.

    Just my 2cents.

LOL and he can pretend to sub every play just standing up in the scorer's table staring at anyone passing by.

    Agreed.

I think Lin is way too kind, always wants to be a team player

    Clutchfans logic:
Mchale: "Bev and Lin play well together" >>> CF:"Both belong to the bench"
Mchale: "Best combination on the floor" >>> CF:"Both belong to the bench"
    Harden:"Bev was unbelievable" >>> CF:"Need a real starting PG"
Oh yea, Bev and Lin should be happy that they are playing for incompetent Mchale now. Any knowledgeable Clutchfan would just trade their ass away

You might like for Lin coming off the bench, but make that his role and the Rockets can have it for this season only. Then it's either trade or let him walk because he ain't accepting that and signing an extension.

It would be interesting to have Brooks Start with Harden--since Brooks is our best Catch and Shoot guy.

Of course, Brooks has started for us before with sucess and with DH, TJ and CP on the floor with him--the defensive liability could be covered.

    Starting Lineup of:

    DH
    TJones
    CP
    JH
    Brooks

Then have PB & J come off the bench against the opponents second team (no sticky ball with this group):

    Asik (professional version, of course)
DMo (much better at rebounding now)
    Caspi
    Lin (can rebound fairly well)
    PB (can rebound very well)

If I were coach, I would give this lineup a 10 game trial run.

Harden and Brooks on perimeter D would be the most appetizing sight for opposing guards in the league.

I see what you did there. Subtle way to suggest Harden for Kevin Love trade. very sneaky.

I see this as an opportunity to think outside the box.

It's all about Synergy! The sum of the parts are greater that the parts themselves. There is another thread about our defensive rating with DH in the game. Parsons and Harden can switch defensive assignments since Harden is a much stronger defender. This leaves us with only one weak point in our defense and not two. Also, the way our system is currently tooled, we mostly outscore our opponents.

The second team would have a more balanced defense also with PB and Asik.

Of course, at the end of close games, you put out the best group, as required.

The best part is that NO trades are required!

(BTW, with the triple threat skills of JH, double team requirement of DH and 3pt efficiencies of AB and CP, those same opposing guards would be the main course when we are on offense.)

I also agree that Lin is great to have at the back-up 2 position, but at the same time, we also don't have a stellar starting PG, so also having a good-as-possible back up PG is favorable.

That's why I like Lin's current role so much. To have a guy that can be a combo 1-2 is what the Rockets need right now, unless they can bring in a star PG or someone close to being a star.

Love Bev, but splitting up our guard rotation would be dragic.

    I mean tragic. Dang autocorrect.

Yeah Harden has a ESPN player ranking of 4. Why trade him for a lowry 11th (Love)?

Gosh, darn that autocorrect! I meant "lowly."

I think the term you are looking for is “consummate professional"; unlike the great sulking Turk.

Lineups/substitution patterns are a game by game issue. We have to match up with the other teams strengths and weaknesses, so the Lin/Bev combo won't always be the best, but it has a good track record.

To be fair to Asik, they cut his minutes much more dramatically than they cut Lin's.

I too like the combo. Dwight Parsons Harden Lin and Bev is a small, but potent lineup. Mix in TJones and DMo; plus add a 3-pt shooting wing, and we have our 8-man rotation. Still need to find a backup center though. Wait ...don't we have a sulking 7-ft Turk on our bench?

Parsons as a 4 or Harden as a 3/4 cannot be used for a long term solution ... only temporary ... their bodies will break from the physical contact against players like ibaka/randolph etc. For some minutes in the end of the game or certain match-ups i don't have a problem.

just don't guard those guys. it's not like he guards the sgs. I would even welcome harden doing the matador on a PF than having no name SGs get career nights.
